Oops

I thought the editing had to be malicious in some way to invoke cardinal sindom...though I may wrong. Apologies anyway.

Thing is though, malice is in the eye of the beholder; mods are notoriously literal.

<apology gracefully accepted>

We ordered a variety of gift cards to restaurants and the cinema, a composter and slow cooker last year with ours - it was like Christmas had come mid-year and we treated ourselves to a couple of meals/nights out, whereas normally we'd stay home and eat in/get a dvd. We lead such frivolous lives!

Its a relatively new Sony, and it takes a lot longer to come to life when you press the power button than the near instantaneous play of any DVD player Ive had, plus it takes a lot longer to start playing movies once it past the boot up screen. Its not like its minutes, its just irritating that its slower than DVD.

Its hardly a surprise as there is a lot more data to process, My understanding is that its just part of bluray life due to the extra data processing, so you must just be special.

All of which is a moot point as mostly we watch DVDs from the library of downloads anyway.

Just because it's a Sony doesn't mean it's PUKKA. It use to be the brand back in the days, but I think they are just living on their laurels now, whilst making crappy expensive products.

Theres nothing wrong with the player. The many positive reviews of it commended that model for its fast start up. Ive never had any complaints about any of my Sony gear.

Apparently its fast for a bluray, its just bluray in general is slow. Except yours of course.

Is bluray something to do with blueray, or do you just need new glasses?

Either way, plastic discs are so last decade for watching movies.

Anyway, your player will be no slower than what ur has and might even be faster. I think you probably just over-egged the difference and he jumped to a conclusion.
