Can we have a cheese thread please?

Re: Can we have a cheese thread please?
This evening we shall make a proletarian pizza, on top there will be Loblaws Extra Old Cheddar and Costco Parmesan. I see that as an expression of empathy for those living in parts of Canada remote from the market.

Must try Jalapeno on toast. That one has some flavour

They only have 3 shops in Ontario (sorry!), but check out what havartis your grocery has in the counter. The havartis in the packages in the fridges are usually the plain bland ones... but if they have any flavoured ones in the counter then those might be worth a shot. We also liked the sundried tomato one... the basil one was meh, though. Bit of hit and miss sometimes, but still worth trying. When it's a bit warm and soft on toast or on a bagel, though, it's really, really good.

Goat cheese (soft) with cranberries is extremely good too.
Starsky's has over 400 different cheese choices with many UK and European types, I've been singing their praises too -
Schnookololly, I agree - they are great!
There's a really good cheese shop in Georgetown http://www.millstreetcheesemarket.com/

There's also a local cheese factory, Empire Cheese, that does a good cheddar plus a few flavoured ones.

Mmmm cheese. I like feta cheese and most others, mmmmm cheese.
Also echoing Bats always try local cheeses whenever you can, nearly always worth it.

My mouth is watering reading this thread!
Another available at costco is the collier's welsh cheddar. Mmmm. There's a real nice cheese shop in Port Dover, had this really good Dutch cheese. I may or may not have ate the whole $16 brick.

I like it personally. Trader Joes stocks it down here, and its quite reasonably priced.
My wife calls it "stinky" cheese, that phrase applies to any non-American cheese in the house. She is quite the Californian cave dweller.
