That is on a par with the broad I dealt with when I went for my SIN card a few days after landing. I'd made it quite clear I'd just arrived from the UK.

She wanted to see my birth certificate, so I gave it to her.

'That's not a birth certificate'.

'Yes it is. It says so at the top.'

'It's not a Canadian birth certificate.'

'Let's go though this again, shall we?..........'

That sort of thing asking about the conditions on the ground at the moment seems reasonable enough to me, although my crystal ball needs a good shining to be of any use....
