Calgary SE ring road delayed

The October 1st opening date is specified in the contract. Not like it was a surprise.

I have no clue when they started it, I've been avoiding Shawnessy for months now because of all the aggravation, but that just raises the question that they should have started on it earlier?

In theory, there were looking to upgrade all of the intersections of 22x west of Macleod into clover leafs so as to ensure that traffic would not have to stop. Time will tell if that happens.

I think FN is used mainly in BC and the west. The term native is used across Canada but in Ontario and possibly the maritimes the term aboriginal is used a lot. In Quebec they often use the term "les autochtones".

Not for the bridge at Macleod and 22x. That was only given the go ahead recently as the SE leg of the ring road was nearing completion and they didn't want to have the headache of a 2 lane road (with added traffic that the ring road will supposedly ensure) having to stop at the bottleneck created by a single lane bridge controlled by lights.

The SW ring road is the bit that's most desperately needed and the reluctance from the Tsuu T'ina is why it has taken so long to be agreed. If the land isn't important to them, they've got a strange way of showing it! Also there are residences on that land which will have to be moved, so it's not just a "we want to keep our land" situation, it's a bona fide problem for them to have the road cross their land.
I've driven around the NE ring road a few times and basically it's hardly used at present. You can see that when all the housing developments are built out why it will be so important, but the main thing I remember about it was seeing someone in a Ferrari 458 Italia tearing along it, because there's no traffic. Only really of use as a bypass around the city on the Trans-Canada until the SE section opens.

My former house backed onto 22X. The thought of backing onto a major part of the ring road was a small part of the reason we decided to relocate. One wonders whether the purchasers' (immigrants from Spain) thought it appropriate to spell out to them the potential of lots of articulated lorries screaming fairly close to the property at the time of showing them our property. I know the realtor that acted for us at the time we purchased it didn't.

This is shaping up to be a possible debacle, how can they carry on in this weather? The only day with a weather forecast above freezing this week is Wednesday (1 C). Ground will obviously be frozen and you can't spread asphalt below around 5 C.

City didn't even have the plows out on Stoney last night...the on ramp to deerfoot north was 3ft deep in snow with people stuck all over it

This is clearly an entirely new definition of "October 1st" I am unfamiliar with...
