Calgary Meet Up !!!!
#47
At the risk of sounding bossy
, I'm going to do a quick head count !!
Top Cat - 3 people (hopefully not 4 that early!) - child/ren - 3 yr old
Calgary Colemans - 4 people - 1 yr + 4 yrs
Roos here - 4 people - 2 yrs + 6mths
Smelly - 2 people (?)
Flossie & Jim - 2 people (?)
ann m - 4 people - 7 yrs + 9yrs
Judy - 1/2 people (?)
Jingsamichty - 2/3/4 people (?)
Almost Canadian - 5 people (?) - 5 yrs / 8 yrs / 11 yrs (I think!)
gryphea - 4 people - 3yrs + 5 yrs
Burton Bunch }
minihaha } not sure if bringing OH's and kids, or just blagging a girls
Mrs Miggins } weekend away !!
Ranjeet - 2 people
londonlady108 - 2/3/4 people (?) - teenagers
bobbiel - not sure if coming, or just being polite to welcome Top Cat !
OK - so that is already (if everyone could make the same day) approx 40 people, with quite a few kids.
Chaos - me thinks
I may truly live to regret this
, but I would be happy to have a "do" at my house if anyone/everyone was willing to come up to Cochrane ... though I'm also perfectly happy if you decline too - no offence taken !!
Seriously - it might be easier in a more casual environment with toddlers, nappy changing, and sulky teens who'd rather have a go on the X-Box ! It also leaves the adults better able to finish a sentence without rescuing little people from the clutches of high chairs, washroom visits, and harrassed staff who get the bills wrong ! Oh, and the parking is free too.
Think about it ... someone mentioned people 'bringing a dish' on an earlier suggestion - that might work (plus a bottle of course!) ...
Open to the floor !!

I did wonder about this - but apart from the two people (men, no doubt, wearing the obligitory silly apron!) who are cooking and will keep warm, every other bugger will most likely to be freezing their wotsits off by end Nov !!

Oh, and it sounds like you've already met my other half (ref: silly apron)

Spaghetti Factory is good for us.
Both 24th Nov and 1st Dec are possible - but 1st December is better !
Can we book? I can't recall the layout of the place at the moment - are there any alcoves or sections? - there could be quite a few of us.
We should get some numbers. There are 4 of us.

Don't forget to add this to the BE Meet Up calendar once you've got a date - http://britishexpats.com/forum/calendar.php - use the RSVP feature to make it easier to keep track of who's going and who's not, you can also request a reminder to be sent to you nearer the meet-up date so you don't forget about it

Wow Ann M...
what a lovely idea. It does sound like a lot of people in your house... are you sure??
I have been told Cochrane is about an 30 min drive from Calgary so that is great for us...
Dont think I fancy an outside get together, kids seems to moan so much when they get cold!
Thanks for doing a head count... i need someone to organise me... since I started maternity leave my brain has turned to mush!!
If the meet will be at Ann M in Cochrane then the date would be better set by her.
I will do a quick recap and see who prefers which date.

Ann - You have let the cold go to your head!! You must be NUTS!! Still if it is the 1st I am here down the road and will help in any way I can - I can hoover, dust etc.. set things out, shop - my hourly rate is reasonable for this time of year!! lol No seriously I will help set up and clear up - that is a lot of work. Also in all this I have forgotten to say welcome to Top Cat - I do think with the number of small children involved an outside venue might be a challenge. If it is the 1st then Charles my 11 year old and myself will head on over.

Sorry, but I will not be able to attend. I'm working weekends and my family will be back in the UK.
Hope you all have a smashing time, wherever you go!!

Actually - if it is the 24th then I will come with hubby - he has been stuck in the US for years and is still there!! So a bit of Britishness might do him some good - it will be nice to talk to people without having to translate. However I have spread the expression "Tits Up" around the US - some things just do not translate!!!

Ann, that is incredibly generous of you. Thank you very much for the offer, regardless of whether or not the function ends up being at your place.
I now have had an invitation for November 24th. I'll give priority to the BE meet up if it's on November 24th and if a commitment to that date is made sharp-ish. I'll decline the other invitation or ask my friend if she and I can postpone our get together by a week or so. But it would be nice to know, one way or the other, pretty soon.
As of this moment, I'm still available on November 24th or December 1st.
