Yeah, I've tried. I wasn't good at it right away and so I gave up

In my wakeboarding days I could do a number of tricks, but that was on water which didn't hurt (too much) when you fell off.

Good luck though. I think the trick is to keep a flat board on launch and landing - but the jumps are slippery and hard (oo-er missus) so it can be difficult (well for me anyway - other people don't seem to have much of a problem)

Cypress sounds hilarious! Mind you, just before my first skiing holiday ever, I did my ACL in at Milton Keynes Snowdome and I wouldn't say that was a laugh. Medical card - must remember...

Personally I spent the first few years on a board and found that there was a lot of arse time. After switching to skiing I found that for me, there was a lot less. I count myself as a (bad) skier now. It's faster too

So much easier to get around the flatish bits between trails too...

I can ski quite proficiently and I enjoy it, but thought I might as well give snowboarding a whirl to see what all the fuss is about.

I found it very different but, once one gets past the first few hours of catching edges and slamming into the ground, it is much easier to progress. I found it much easier to go from green to blue to black runs on a board than on skiis.

Falling on a board hurts way more than falling on skis. I don't believe I have ever managed to fall without hurting myself on a board.

Two plankers is, I am led to believe, the term used by boarders.

Twin tips are a type of freestyle skis - designed for forwards and backwards skiing.

Helmet, knee-pads, and arse protection are sensible options for those of us who aren't very good... er, I mean, push our abilities to max!

Back protector for sure. Gives more confidence to chuck yourself down the mountain.

Takes me ages to get ready though, and it's exhausting. Knee supports, wrist supports, back protector, helmet, cod liver oil tablet, and i tend to take a pain killer just before the first run.
