Default The C word in Whistler?

Just asking - is there, by any chance, an expats group that goes skiing at Christmas. If so, where - I'm hoping Whistler...(since I'm going to Vancouver?)
Anybody?

Whistler accommodation is bloody expensive around that time. We just drive up for the day (1.5hrs ish) every now and again or just stay locally (usually Cypress) which is only 30 minutes or so away from downtown.

I like cypress, but it's limited. After a couple of hours I find it a bit boring.

Well, it's a moderate la-nina year or something which means it will be colder and we should get some more snow. They said that last year though, and I don't think it was that good a year.

I'm a fair weather boarder now-a-days. If it's not sunny or the pistes are in crap condition (nicely groomed or powder please) I'm not interested.

We go for convenience more than anything else. I like to pop up for a couple of hours in the afternoon or when my friends finish work.

I have my board and medical card all ready to go

5 minutes into last season i broke a rib at the top of Cypress. 5 weeks later, on my 2nd run of the season, i ripped my groin muscle when my old binding broke mid slope. I really hope this season is physically better

I can rent you a 3 bed property in Sun Peaks, but you probably won't like the price either.

Bindings going gives me the fear - I can imagine knees being shredded. I don't tend to go at top speed any more (not that I was ever that fast to begin with) cos my recovery from falling over is not what it once was. I certainly don't go near any terrain parks.

I think I'll give snowboarding a go this year.

I have a spare board and bindings you can borrow in exchange for a smoked salmon sandwich.

Have you ever tried them? That was the only reason I decided to give snowboarding a go but, before I became good enough to be able to, I fell over on the way to work and smashed my back to bits. I didn't recover before the end of the season last year. I can't wait to give it a go this year
