You wouldn't save a bean, and as Aviator pointed out, would then own a care that's depreciating faster than local vehicles just because it's from out of province.

Would you travel across 3 time zones in Europe to buy a car?
What a great point, prob not. i could put it in the back of my truck though, if I was returning with a half load. But, prob not. Thanks rich.fletch

Shipping from Ontario to Alberta costs around $1200, so add on whatever else it will cost to BC and the car is no longer cheaper.

I would think something like the difference in population numbers has something to do with the costs of the cars - more people, more cars, more second hand cars, more competition to sell the cars therefore priced more aggressively to sell, I have no facts to base that opinion on, it's just something that makes sense (to me).

I would look south from BC if you are wanting cheaper rather than east, at least south you might have a chance of seeing the car and driving it home, Ontario is a long way away from BC.

Cars are better protected now. And the salt is much more refined.
The jacking points on the Beetle have rusted away, I have to put a plank across the floor and use a bottle jack to lift it. I would have thought that usual.

It's a 2007 car. It still runs but it's very much on its last legs, if there was an MOT here I don't think it would pass. Still, it hardly gets used these days, maybe 5,000 miles in the past year.

It had a rough life when you were commuting from the homestead. Nonetheless, I've had older cars than that here and never any rust issues.

I am unsure if the OP has any realistic thoughts as to how big Canadia is. Its like saying cars in Poland, Russia and India are well cheap so why do people pop down to the local Ford dealer in No Town Uk when they could save big by picking up the Polsky motoz martzen and save a few bobskie. Lol

A couple of points...

Stop blaming salt for rust. It's lazy ass drivers who cause rust by not taking care of their cars and giving them a wash now and then

and Fletch, why are you looking at that FJ, it's MINGIN! lol

Dont rule out the kijiji scam advert, see scam baiting thread. They advertise vehicles 25% under market value, then offer to deliver said vehicle at no extra cost to yourself. Ha ha. You just have to send a 50% deposit via ebay\ paypal.
