Re: Bug Season 2009
What's weird is - the wife, redhead & fair skin, one minor bite all season, my son, blond hair & ultra fair skin, no bites..... me, black hair & fair to mid skin, annihilated!

Re: Bug Season 2009
We have just come back from camping in Waskesiu (Saskatchewan) We arrived on Sat evening and left first thing Monday morning.
I have never seen so many bugs.....my daughter had 12 nasty bites within the hour of being there!!!!!!
You had to run from car to trailer, then start killing anything that had made it's was into the trailer!!!
We went on a 2km hike.....totally awful, we ended up speed walking while waving our caps around disparately trying not to get bitten!!!
Such a shame, as the place was beautiful.

Ice packs will help, just wrap some ice cubes in a tea towel and tie them on. Plus any bite / anti itch creme

Re: Bug Season 2009
The best remedy to keep mosquitoes away is - vinegar (white or brown) apply copious amounts to your skin and sprinkle it around the house and where ever else you desire and they will not attack. This I learned from my Gran while growing up in South Africa and years later while travelling through Belgium we spent a night in a camp site and my dear son who was then 3 years old was bitten all over, the next day the camp site owner suggested using vinegar and I thought why didn't I think of that, believe you me it works all the time is cheap and less toxic than commercial sprays.
