Re: Bug Season 2009
Kids are camping with the Scouts in Bracebridge this weekend, we dropped them off and ran away, bugs were in full battle mode....
They made a meal of me in the nano second that I was out of the car, not good as I react badly to the bites, ended up in hospital last year and unable to walk for three weeks just as the house needed packing ready for container to Canada.
Hope the kids survivie, they did go armed with plenty of chemicals.

Might have been a deerfly, they typically go for the shoulder area. I hate deerflies more than any of the biting bugs. Last week I got one on my arm, swatted it with my free hand and the thing was still attached to me with it's bitey-bits, very dead. It left an enduring and unwanted mental image

hi, the mozzies are like savage beasts here in Saskatchewan..ive never seen so many and they are huge buggers some of them...my 3 year old got bitten on the side of his forehead it was the size of an egg then made his eye swell up so bad he couldnt see out of it...even if u put repellant on it doesnt always stop them biting...this is the worst thing about living in Canada..id rather put up with the cold...then worry about getting the west nile virus

Ok, I've received a nasty bite to my leg, not sure what by, but my leg has swollen up and is hot to touch - been like this since yesterday morning.... how long should I give it before going to the quacks?

Benadryl spray, or After Bite, it will pass. I look like elephant man after stupidly walking the dog along the river early yesterday morning...and forgot to cover myself in bug spray. I cannot use one arm it's so swollen, and my left leg looks like it should belong to a fifty year old elephant. It lasts for days with me, it is so embarassing.

My kids react in varying degrees; the two who tan easily, never seem to get bitten. The three who are pale like me - mozzie dinners.
