Maybe the word is just used too much. Nasty weather, the kid was nasty, someone said something nasty.... that made me feel like it wasn't strong enough. Like I said I am sorry Alan if I wrongly assumed your comment was not sensitive enough!

Anyone heard who did this yet.
The bombs were full of ball bearings, obviously ment to injure as many people as possible.

Lets not revert to attacking each other please.
A terrible situation and horrific for everyone involved, I can't imagine how the families and friends of the victims are feeling.
It would appear to me anyway, that the bombs either went off late or else were aimed at maiming and killing families and other bystanders watching the marathon.
Shocking and despicable doesn't begin to describe these acts of terrorism.

Horrible day!

It just feels like such a pointless and heartless indiscriminate attack. A garbage bin that was bound to be surrounded by friends and families of people running in the marathon, probably from all over the world.
I mean, wtf is this supposed to accomplish? ... especially as nobody seems to be rushing to own up to it?!!

And it seems that one of the deceased is an eight year old boy. Heartbreaking.

Why do we always act surprised? As if bombs and terrorism were a new thing? I'm not saying this to detract or minimise what has happened but it's as if previous occurences never happened.

Being from Northern Ireland and being old enough to remember the tail end of the "bad times" I'm not surprised in the least myself. My home town has been bombed twice in my life time. Luckily both instances I was at home so I only had to hear them rather than experience first hand.

The IRA used to call the police and tell them they had done it. No one has owned up to this bomb/bombs? What statement are they trying to make if no one knows who did it. Crazy !!!!!

I grew up in the "German Autumn" in the 70's/80's when the Baader-Meinhof gang was responsible for many terrorist attacks and deaths. And I remember my parents always hoped "this one" was the last although they probably knew it wasn't.
I guess it is much to comprehend for a normal, caring, social human brain that some people will not care whether they kill an 8 year old kid or leave a wife without her husband and that it happens again and again and again.

I don't know, maybe deep down we hope it never happens again.

Do you care when you see a dead skunk at the side of the road? Or is it just an animal? Do you value it less than a person? Should you?
Humans are the most skilled animals at exterminating themselves (and other species). Then there are the more dangerous subsets of man - the sociopaths, the sadists etc.
In this view there is really nothing that can shock or surprise. "We" as people are capable of just about anything given the right conditions. That includes you and it includes me.
To end on a lighter note...the capability works in both directions. "We" are capable of brilliant acts too.

I heard a few of the London ones, saw police officers crying, saw patients, saw the Blues and Royals, not long after. Ack, can't express how I feel really.

I believe that the authorities have there hands on some undetonated devices. Hopefully this may go a long way in tracking down the perpetrators of this crime.
