Better then the UK??

Oh Miss Pandora, someone seems to be tinkering with your box
Yes, Canada is MILES better than the UK. Why? How long do you have? In rural canada most people actually give a damn about other people, property costs dont eat up half your income and your kids can go play outside without you worrying anything horrific is going to happen. Hell, we dont hardly ever lock our doors the crime rate is so low.
Of course, some aspects of the UK are better than Canada (like, if you want to visit a castle, or have a nice pub lunch with real ale), but on balance wild horses would not drag be back to actually LIVE there.

We'd have gone home if it wasn't better.
Its just easier here for day to day living, not the hassle's and frustrations of the UK.
I'm not up-tight as much, and generally feel more relaxed and less stressed in Canada than the UK.
But each to their own, it not going to please everyone.

The UK...will always be my maternal home but I would never entertain moving back for good.
Its been 20 years since I emigrated, I did spend 2002-2006 back in the UK...but if I had any doubts, they are now gone.
A nice place to visit...but no more than that.

Can I ask how long it took you to get your LMO for Saskatoon - and if you say in one week I will die as we will be waiting ten weeks on Thursday. WE are going to Indian Head, East of Regina.
Carrie-anne on BE lives outside Saskatoon and likes it there

Oh I'm sure the UN Human Development Index can come up with some objective stats

Objectivity is out the window when observing/studying/measuring "the social" or anything else people related.... which is pretty much everything (at least that matters!
).

Perhaps, but the factors the UN HDI uses are arguable all pretty well fixed in stone...life expenctancy, per capita income, school enrolement rates...the only slightly questionable one is the literacy rate as its a bit open to interpretation.
