Ok next time you're in calgary I'll take you for a curry.
If we can persuade Scotty and Lisa and Steve and Tanya to join us I can guarantee the company will be decent. ;)

I have to ask.

When did curry become the British national dish?

When I left (yeah I know that was when Noah was building his ark) it was roast beef. :)

Kelowna....didn't believe it, but tried it and it was great!

A bloke who got talking to us whilst we were eating breakfast in Revelstoke recommended it and it was fab. Got there at 5 pm and had the last seat in the place (next to the toilet), packed and gorgeous food.

Plus there is supposed to be a good one in Nelson. :)

Well 'officially' it used to be Fish and Chips, now (according to some dodgy research) its Chicken Tikka Masala.

yuuuuuummmm that's one thing I do miss, that CANNOT be replaced here - British Fish 'n' Chips!

My home chippy has the 'best fish 'n' chips award in the Country apparently. Had to visit there more than once when I went back. :D

I once drank most of a bottle of JD - I'm more or less tea-total now! But happy to serve it up for others - lovely stuff.

I wasn't too good - staggered into the lab, breathed on the post-doc and was ordered home.

All because of some bloke.... :)

Oh, we had one of those "off-on, off-on" things going, happily met OH a few weeks later and been settled ever since, so ultimately good. :)

Nah, not much regulation north of the border, open historically for the dock workers, you can drink day and night in Edinburgh, more or less.

Why not lay in to a normal time?

They all went home at 11.30am, DD is now asleep on the couch and I just awoke from a little cat nap myself

Re: The Bar Is Now Open

Morning people .... coffee and croissants anyone? :)

I had such a good evening last night. Round at a friend's house overlooking the Stampede grounds. Fire pit going to deter the mozzies, good food, good company and plenty of booze! :p

Then we watched the fireworks at the end of the stampede evening .... best I've ever seen!! :D , then returned to the garden where one guy took out his guitar for a little singalong and one of the guests was a Newie who sang some traditional Newfie folksongs unaccompanied. He was brilliant! :D

I also met a fellow physio who consoled me over the exam thing. It seems that foreign trained grads are famous for having problems with this thing, and nobody quite knows why! But Canadian students have a chance to practise that type of clinical testing over and over in their training and so are much more prepared in that sense. She's going to give me a bunch of notes, books and practice exam scenarios which will help tremendously. Plus I'll know what to expect when I re-sit it!

I love my new Canadian friends.

Yes I'm in the UK. Getting on for tea time now. Hubby is still out at the air show. Not sure what time he'll be back (depends on the M5)

Feeling a bit more awake now, guess I have my second wind! :p
