B.C. votes to scrap HST

Also people there are saying that the Federal Govt. should "forgive" the $1.6 billion that BC got to implement HST. No bloody way should I or any other Canadian outside of BC be on the hook for this.
It will be interesting to see what the Govt. does in fact, because it will piss off people in eastern BC who vote tory if they don't forgive that money but it will piss off far more people in Alberta and elsewhere if they do.

The anti HST ers did not mention the fact that PST in effect, with the GST is a 14% tax when one takes into account the embeded PST in products we buy.
Why would anyone vote to bring back a tax that costs 4% more? We could have had 10% sales tax by the time the HST is gone. This would have way offset and extra we might pay on a hair cut, cup of coffee or eating out.
or that anyone who even has a garage sale or sells used goods (privately and as a business) is supposed to under the old rules collect PST and self declare. Maybe enforcing that will be a bit of a wake up call and increase the provincial coffers.
Under the HST rules businesses had to register for HST or GST over $30000 in revenue, under that it was voluntary. Once the PST comes back, all businesses have to charge and report PST where a taxable item is sold, there is no threshold or limit to size of the business under the PST rules.

But the federal government takes too much of our money anyway. Sod those money grabbing politicians in Ottawa, they never do anything for BC they only ever pander to Ontario and the frenchies.
