Anyone know how to extract a squirrel from a chimney?

I have the perfect solution. Attach a pair of hair straighteners to a block heater and use the electric spark produced to fire electric shocks into the chimmney.
... Naturally you'd also need use a UK TV set and game console as part of the circuit for the biggest effect...

I'd feed it some hazelnuts from the cupboard.

When I had a problem with squirrels in my garage in N.S. I bought a suitable humane cage trap for a few bucks. Hunger will solve the problem ! Make sure that there is nothing laying around for them to eat. Bait the trap with peanut butter and a couple of peanuts in the shells. They can't resist. I then took them for a drive into the country and released them.
Problem solved.

You haven't got the point of BE yet, have you?

When I lived in the country, I'd trap skunks and raccoons and the like and drive them into town and release them. Problem solved.

This is a great thread! If he isn't gone yet you may have to get a livetrap from the humane society and haul him out, (as has been suggested). Or get another squirrel to help him plan his escape, and introduce him into the fireplace....

Awesome thread. Keep it going guys - I'm sure the OP won't mind keeping the squirrel a little longer?!
