Another US school shooting

"Many dead" according to the BBC.

Guns are not a necessary part of everyday life. Just when will those poor Americans learn that?

According to reports there were multiple gunmen. A terrorist incident?

Not for a long long time I suspect. Of course this will never happen in Canada as all of our citizens are sane responsible gun owners and there are no checks and balances required and that all firearms are lawfully possessed by sane responsible gun owners.

27 now. They will never learn. In fact they'll say that if everyone was tooled up this kind of thing wouldn't happen.

how horrible is that? I remember that awful day it happened in Scotland, must be almost 20 years ago now - I could still feel sick thinking about it now.

The right to own guns so ingrained in their cultural identity that taking away their firearms would be like banning sausages in Britain, sure both measures would save lives but no one is going to put up with it.

Globe and Mail says it was the father of one of the students.

I fear they'll disguise the ineffective lockdown procedure with a message regarding how many lives it potentially saved.

An elementary school FFS.

Very very sad.

Canadians also own lots of guns (more per head?). And also there are occasional shooting atrocities (Montreal Polytechnic for one). Fortunately it seems to happens less here. Better mental health care? Less paranoia? who knows. Its of no consolation to those caught up in the awful tragedy in Connecticut.

What kind of person can shoot children age 4-10? I hope he rots in hell!!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims and to those who had to witness their friends being murdered.
What a tragedy !!!

I used to live in Connecticut, not too far from this area. I’ve always held the opinion that it was a relatively civilized state, sure the influx of New Yorkers has chaved the place up a bit, but in general they seemed pretty balanced. They even have proper roads. Now it seems they’ve gone as loopy as the rest of the country.

And even if you are mentally deranged, what kind of coward shoots children?

Could happen anywhere. Just happens more in America because they're generally a bit more mad.
