Weight, I think. Maybe that's just owner-operators.

I think retail staff should be tipped - especially after running around after customers, getting them clothes to try on and then phoning around for their size etc

I was asked yesterday if I would go back into the pub/restaurant industry, I said no, don't want to do nights/weekends. Maybe I should go back for the daytime shifts, I'd certainly earn more a day doing that than I do retail.

If the service is bad I will not tip, if the food is bad and the service is good, I will tip but not as much, if the food and service is bad I will not tip and I will complain. I will complain if my food is not hot, unfortunately this is quite common here. It was so nice to get hot food in Ontario

I agree, the work ethic I see is geared towards a 4pm departure and employment's an inconvenience in the way of recreation.

Perhaps that's why, for many many years, Ontario was the country's economic engine.

Same is true here, in the land of the federal bureaucracy.

And we're part of Ontario apparently.

Any discussion of productivity and work ethic obviously excludes, for the most part, civil servants of any category.

And why would that be?

I resent that comment immensely. I was a civil servant for 24 years before we were privatized.

Civil servants are way too easy a target for the arseholes of this world.
