I went retro last year and had a classic Technics 1200MKIII for a few months.

I also got tired of the turn over routine, the crackle and pops and the fact that I had the same tracks downloaded as either lossless or 24/96 Hi Res versions, it just seemed pointless.

I got rid of my full collections of YES, Jethro Tull, Floyd and Tangerine Dream in the late eighties which I do regret, but to go out and buy replacements in vinyl considering what I stated above just seemed moronic.

I like the “idea” of vinyl but in reality, it wears off for me and I was reverting to CD, SACD and streaming from my library.

I have one record, found it in a thrift store back in Ontario, its a kids record but it was one I had as a kid and listened to frequently so its about nostalgia and not actually collecting.

The best thing about vinyl was sitting with the LP sleeve in hands or the sheet with the lyrics on and following them through until you knew them. Unlike the little booklets from CDs where the print was too damn small to do the same.

CDs should have been brought out with a nice 12 inch card. Aside from being able to follow the words, the LP sleeve was an important part. That's what made it an album.

Strangely retitled apparently.
When I was in university we were hosting a house party and some uninvited 'critters' came and they had left an important part of their brains in a field in Hampshire if you know what I mean. Generally a pain to deal with. They ended up lying on the floor near the speakers and were almost passed out. My room mate put on Ummagumma and Careful with that axe eugene. The blood curling screams in the song woke them up and gave them palpitations and they quickly left. So there is a purpose to such music.

Just unpacked my Rega at the weekend and thought I was good to go with a 2000W transformer for that and my valve amp - only to find everything playing 20% too fast - Damn, forgot about 60Hz, guess I need a new motor.....and psu
