I think this post is not really aimed at us deciding whether Butch should stay or go but merely showing you guys that people are happy with what he posts and therefore you guys should back off...Just my take.

On the other hand, ask yourself what else might motivate people to vote for him to stay on his present path...

It just seems like one gigantic ego trip to me anyway.

If he chooses to leave, then he leaves. If he chooses to ignore the repeated warnings he has had to play by the rules, then he will be banned. If he stays and continues to post within the rules, with the occasional amusing post, then all the better.

Yes, butch leaves and every other poster on BE decides he was unfairly treated and also leaves in solidarity and BE closes due to lack of use.

I do concede that this is a bit of outlier on the probability curve.

Sorry Iain, i've said it before and I'll say it again. A mod on this forum accussing someone else of being on an ego trip is the height of Irony.

I could go on but I have work to do what I am trying to say is lets face it without people like Butch, FK & many others BE would be an anonymous site full of people with 25 posts each cause there would be little else to talk about.

It would appear that you take quite a fair degree of egotistical pleasure from your little games (seeing your pseudonym all over the board in the middle of the night, for example). From my recollection at the time, neither Iaink nor Christmasoompa put themselves forward as mods, they were nominated by others and accepted the challenge. I fail to see where the ego trip lies in that?

Obviously I'm a bit bored, but this thread has made my day. Seriously, I doubt we'll see better all week (tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this is funny ... hooray for butch!)

We've tried explaining that numerous times before, but it seems the select few that require our constant attention still don't get it. Clearly the 'break rules = mod action, don't break rules = mods leave you alone' concept is far too much for them to grasp.

There are many amusing and erudite posters here who can get a point across WITHOUT BREAKING THE RULES EVERY TWO DAYS. Losing one or more of them would not be the end of the world in my opinion.

As Oakvillian pointed out, the only reason for the mods to step in is if the rules that EVERYONE signed up to abide by get broken. Stick to the rules and is easy. If you want to persistently break the rules, then suffer the consequences.

The world will continue to spin on its axis regardless, and people will still be amused here from time to time by the 98% of posters that can follow simple instruction regarding their behaviour. The forum might actually be a better place for it. The peanut gallery is not universally loved, much as I hate to break it to you in this way. If anyone out there has feedback in that regard, feel free to PM me (all comments kept in anonymity of course) Lets find out what people really think.

I'm sorry but my opinion will probably be backed up by many. The MOST important posters on this forum are Steve_P and DBD33, where are they nowadays???

BE is meant to be a service and sometimes a little sacrifice will keep these people around otherwise off they go and then BE becomes as useless as the threads inside of it.
