Hi, how much did that set you back, how big is it, do you use it in the winter?

Much as in ground may look nicer and more integrated, its a whole world of pain if it starts to leak or goes wrong, plus is a lot easier for wildlife and the unaware to fall in an inground pool than an above ground pool.

If we ever get a permapool, it will be above ground, and not just cos we are cheap!

But unless you actually live there it won't do you much good. Swimming pool in your back yard can be used daily throughout summer - Inground or above ground

I can get an above ground 18x9x52 for around $1000, hubby things they are ugly but it would be nice in the summer....mind you these days I never have time to do bugger all, I am like a yo yo running up and down between house and kennels.......not complaining....this is my retirement plan!

Always good to have a plan. My hubs and I always planned on retiring to France (still might), but after kids came along, may depend on where they settle, or if they settle in any one place! won't be following them aroundby any means but would like to be relatively close. Having said that, when they get home from school today and it all kicks off I'll want to be 1000's of miles away!

Pool covers dont stop people drowning, in fact they may make it worse if you get trapped under it while struggling. They do keep the pool warmer though.

We considered Italy but after watching those BBC progs and looking on the Italy section here changed our minds, I do love Italian food though, I bought the Silver Spoon book, it has some brill recipes, very fattening though

Rural France is nice, people are friendly but I hated the touristy spots, the locals were very rude, prob due to too much abuse by tourists

Italy is lovely - we did the Amalfi coast on our honeymoon - just glorious
