Haven't seen any footage - only news websites - but for some people this behaviour is just a way of coping until they can have some time and privacy.

I hope the child is found soon.

There is breaking news on Sky news at the mo.

Apparantly Potugese police have sealed off the home of a british woman and her son and are conducting investigations there. Pray to god it is better than how it looks

New Searches Of Apartments In Portugal

Updated: 19:40, Monday May 14, 2007
A new search of an apartment near to the one where Madeleine McCann disappeared in Portugal more than a week ago is under way.
Police are searching a villa just 100 yards from the apartment where Madeleine's family were staying.

The house, known as Casa Liliana, was sealed off with tape by police while men in white suits and masks began a search inside.

Police guards were on the doors outside.

Sky News Correspondent Ian Woods said the property being searched belonged to Jennifer Murat and her son Robert Murat.

Mr Murat has been assisting Sky in its coverage of the disappearance of the four-year-old British girl.

Woods said: "Robert Murat has been very well known to the media from day one because I have been asking for anyone who was a good Portuguese speaker to come to the scene.

"He had been acting for three or four days as an interpreter and a go-between with the police."

More follows ...

Apologies for taking so long to reply to this and thank you for making assumptions about me when you really have no idea who I am or what I think. If the McCanns had been getting drunk down the local I would have less sympathy for them. If your 'chav mum' had left her children in the same situation that Madeleine was left in I would have equal sympathy for her. Your comparison is meaningless.

I don't think the parents did it. You only have to see their faces to see the horror they are facing every day. And why would they? There is no reason for them to do this. Madeleine was an IVF baby which implies she was very precious indeed, and judging from the family photos, a really happy little girl.

I've seen the Sky News yesterday, showing the couple taking an apparently long walk along the beach. Without the other two children. The background comment said they are trying to be just like any other vacationers. Well... Hope they have found a babysitter now.

And I was just thinking about kind going missing all the time, without the press telling a word. For me, as I heard about missing kids only from American news like CNN, I took it as it doesn't happen in Europe. That was until I saw a billboard in a German supermarket with many many pictures. But most of the time the press and the public doesn't know or care.

I see there are two separate threads on the Ozzy forum, one of them spanning 12 pages, but not a stitch here. Peculiar considering the number of young mothers who post on this forum. So I'm going to do it. The general feeling is that the parents are primarily to blame, and the perpetrator obviously, here's a post and an answer which pretty much sums up the general way the thread has been going. Just to start you off..

<<<If Denise Bulger hadn't let go of James hand. If Holly and Jessicas parents hadn't let them play out. The list could go on. Yes I know there is a higher degree of irresponsibility on the parents, as I've said I'm not condoning it, but it does appear that these people were determined and had targeted Maddy. Parents on holiday with friends, 2 toddlers to mind + a 3 year old, plenty of distractions, the sicko(s) must have been biding their time. Plus a person(s) had been seen tampering with the shutters on other apartments, so what's to say they wouldn't have taken her whilst the parents slept.

What I'm really trying to get across is that we can all tut and shake our heads, but shouldn't we rather be outraged at the lack of action from the police and be calling for the EU to regulate how abductions are handled.

Shouldn't we be outraged that we have these sicko's in our society who are allowed to live freely and be calling for our childrens right to safety.

I'm in no way saying that what has been said on here is wrong, just trying to change the focus.>>>

Answer
<<<I'm sorry but the basic fact that a child can be abducted in a split second is the biggest reason that you don't leave your three babies locked in an apartment whilst you swan out with your mates for a meal (allegedly every night of the holiday).

Lack of action by the police? says who? Please don't assume that what the papers say is fact, what the police do is their job, they don't feel the need to publicise every move.

I would be interested to know quite how any country is supposed to regulate abductions Also perhaps you could tell me how we are supposed to know who the "sickos" are so we can keep them locked up. I would assume they would have to do something sick first. Whatever your feelings on the case, the parents have stuffed up parenting big time and very sadly the child has gone. They will never forgive themselves and neither will the general public. It makes no difference how many "there but for the grace of god" stories there are, their lives have gone pair shaped and you can't absolve the parents from the blame.>>>
I avoided this thread until now. I just knew there would be a lot of vitriole aimed at the parents. Yes, they were certainly deliquent in their actions, but they must be suffering horribly now. All we can do is hope and pray for that poor child's safe return. Doubtless the "authorities" will deal with the parents later for their actions. Havng said that, and having stayed at many resort hotels, I have noticed many times parents being in the lounge or dining room and suspected that their children were upstairs asleep in their room. I wouldn't do it, nor would the majority, I am sure, but it does happen. I am amongst those who cannot understand the parent's actions, but none of us is perfect, and right now holier than thou attitudes don't help anything. I am sure they are suffering enough.
