I should have winterised but didn't.

The chicken waterer froze solid yesterday.

Living on Vancouver Island where we don't really have extremes of weather and at the risk of being stupid, why do you water your chickens?

I tried to explain the issue to a woman here who got the idea that it froze instantly. She was concerned that the chickens' beaks were frozen to it like childrens' tongues and lamp posts.

I can picture a similar scene with the rooster and the chickens with their beaks frozen to the water and the attached picture....

I have just received my first Christmas message. A friend telling me she isn't sending cards this year s she is donating to Oxfam Philippines fund instead, oh and she isn't giving the book she was going to give. But she's told me which one to borrow from the library.
