2009 / 2010 ski injuries . . .

Her husband of 60 years was a tail gunner in WW2...understandably he had less than favourable associations with parachutes in general so he wouldnt let her do it. Within a week of him leaving the house feet first in a pine box she was down to Gananoque giving it a go! She used to jump two or three times a year. She was an amazing, and somewhat crazy old bird.

I was 41 when I first ventured a snowy slope on two planks of wood - and thinking WTF am I doing?
Fell badly at the end of last season and hurt my knee which is still not 100%, and am a bit wobbly about trying it all again this season. I don't fancy buggering up my knee and am not a fan of surgery. I'm not exactly the fittest person and this is probably not the best thing to be doing. I'm sure half the injuries are caused by people not used to the stresses and strains of skiing/boarding and then doing bugger all for the rest of the year. Or is that just me then

My knee is also buggered, though not through skiing. As a matter of fact, I thought the first season would be kill or cure for my existing frayed cartilage, and it actually improved with the strengthening of skiing!
This year it was field hockey that did for me (trying to recapture my youth), but I'm hoping not to miss the whole ski season!
disclaimer: I only really do green runs and easy blues... nothing too daring!

Why not try something safer, like crystal meth?

Hi
Do you play for the Sacracens then or a ladies team? I am wanting to play next summer and have been advised (by Wendy the omniprescent umpire) to play for the Masters? I wanted ladies rather than mixed team as my expereince of playing mixed is not the best. It would be different if they actually had to be mixed and needed a quota of players - but they don't. My friend started for the warriors but they seem a bit good for me!
Kids have both played with Heather this fall.

Wendy played with them the first game but has not played since. Her OH Tony was press-ganged into playing last week! Last outdoor season we played for a team that was always short of players and eventually fell apart, and I was the only female.... and then I hurt my knee. I don't play indoor ... too full-on for me!

IF I decide to play again next year, I might consider a ladies side. The only ladies side I have seen play is the dinos (Uof C) team, and they are all very young and fit (of course!) I wouldn't play for the Warriors (don't like yellow!!!)
Do you have any details of the Masters?

Do you have any details of the Masters?I'll dig them out and PM you.
I think the reason Wendy suggested the masters was that they are older, play in vets tourny's etc. She said they have a few younger players but mainly are over 35s. This sounds like the pace for me. The U of C play in the mens league anyway! I expained what I wanted, which was low key, not too high standard etc, that I worked with mainly men and therefore I didn't need to play with mainly men and she came up with Masters. A lady at school plays for the Warriors and was trying to persuade me to join, but I honestly think I can't cope with the pace..........

Now I'm relegated to the sidelines anyway.
