As others have pointed out, Ryanair have stopped certain routes - maybe for now, maybe for good. I, too, found Rome- East Mids very convenient, but it's no good questioning their logic, just look for other options.
We found reasonable Jet2 flights for Rome-Manchester. Manchester airport is south of the city and right on the M6, so for the Midlands it's still very convenient. Obviously, if you normally head south from East Mids, it's not such a good choice, but it is still an option.
I don't recall flying Jet2 before, so I'll let you know if it's a nightmare, but the baggage allowance is 5kg up on Ryanair, so that's a good start.

Thanks for that information, i will check that one out, if i had just one wish that would be for an airline to fly from Ancona to East Mids.......i wonder if some wishes come true!! Trouble is i would probably go home every weekend!

Nothing wrong with the Midlands, except the snow of course!
Getting to Ancona is no trouble as i live only 1hr away, its just the other end thats a bit tricky, Stansted to Nottingham is quite different to East Mids to Nottingham, never mind, we cant live in a perfect world all the time lol

Cinzia, I think the reference is probably to trains. However, those can also be problematic if your flights are at awkward times (which they often are on budget flights). If you need to get to an airport for 5am, for instance, it's unlikely you'll find a train journey to suit.

For a 7.00 a.m. flight from Pisa to Stansted the only available transport (other than a taxi) is the 3.15 a.m. Terravision bus from Florence....My OH has done it twice now and hated every minute...
