Im in vasto , abruzzo at the moment working on putting an album together i also DJ but the club scene here is worse than awful.

I have no friends here and im going out of my mind!! I have nothing to do in my spare time no decent parties, no decent clubs, not even anyone to go to a bar with for a drink.

anyone near me (pescara area) who likes going out , living it up ;-) etc. please get in touch.

...... also i dont suppose anyone knows where i can get some some different foods from like a curry or a decent Chinese or even something english like a sunday roast please let me know (i'd drive 100km right now for a curry) Im sick to death of eating Italian food.

I know others are probably eventually going to recommend their neck of the woods to you but I'd take a look at coming over to Florence for a weekend. It has a good club scene - not that I'd know, but I have friends that do and the US students have to do something in the evenings plus there are a few decent Chinese, Japanes, Mexican, Indian etc. restaurants. Might be worth a break for you! I know some cheap places to stay unless that isn't a consideration, in which case I know some expensive ones too!

I've just been looking into it and its a good 6-8 hour drive from where I am however I think it will defiantly be worth it as from what i can see from the net it looks like fun and a hell of a lot more lively than where I am at the moment.

There is a chinese in lanciano and Pescara is supposed to have a very good one. There is even a lap dancing club in one of the tiny villages in Val Di Sangro (Not our one Thank godness) There is an Italian teaching school in Lanciano and there are a lot of English speaking teenagers and people in their early twenties around. You would usually find them in the cafes on the main street. Did you think of putting up a notice or something in the local area to see if there are people of like minds.

I had the dubious pleasure of working in Termoli for a year, which is about 20km down the coast. I remember the chinese restaurant in Termoli was terrible so we went to the one in the Vasto main street, going up the hill on the right hand side. Can't remember the name, it was several years back.

There is a Mexican restaurant in Termoli, not excellent by any stretch of the imagination, but definitely something different than the usual Italian fare. Sells the usual mexican beers as well.

I never found a curry house or a shop to even buy the ingredients. I traveled as far as Pescara and Bari looking, but to no avail.

Anyway, won't be long until the end of September and then most of the bars and restaurants will shut till spring. Then you will be really bored.

Sorry to hear you're feeling lonely. I remember a time when i was in Italy with no friends... that didn't last long though. Get out and about, and eventually you'll make a meet someone who'll introduce you to others.
I'm wondering why you are here ....

Maybe you are not too far from Rome. There is a big expat scene here and normally 2-3 meetings each week for organised expat function. There are several groups on facebook. if you want the info let me know. Cheers Paul (British expat in Rome)

Ariel the reason why I am here is because my mum had an unused house here and said I could set up my studio here to work on producing. since its unused it makes financial sense for me to live here so I can devote all my time to my work . However I Didn't anticipate it being so hard to fit in with the locals.

NOTHING to DO!!!! you are living in the Biggest open air museum in the world...get in your car and visit this great country...

Pull yourself together...get a nice Italian Woman or Man and....... well you know


PS...MAKE FRIENDS!!!!...Just start going to the bar in the mornings and start talking, unles vasto is so so small that there is no bars.
