I think you have to stick to the prosecco to keep you entertained rather than C4. It is unencrypted on Astra 2D 10714 Horizontal band meaning you'll need a larger dish to watch it and most likely that the signal from Astra 2B has been switched off. Anyway, I'll keep a look out for any more test signals even if they might be only temporary.

This is the frequency for an ITV Meridian test channel setup during July broadcasting from Astra 2A: 12402 V (27.5, 2/3). It might still be functioning. Again enter the details from the installer setup menu.

how come you are such an expert anyway ??

And how is wife and son ?

Coping in the heat and the odd storm ?

Thought about ringing you the other day as I had to go to Vicenza hospital (labyrinth) but then realised nobody has phone numbers and it was too late to try and contact you on here. But I did manage to find my way there and back and only get lost once - INSIDE the hospital !!!!!

Hey ciao, after getting the internet sorted the next most important thing any expat should have in his home is the Beeb and having had problems initially I researched all the possible solutions and invariably the answer was always get a bigger dish! 9 times out of 10!
We took Brando out to the Auchan this evening and after sleeping thru most of it he suddenly threw a benny fit just before we got to the checkout - he started screaming and crying. It turned out we just lost track of time and he was hungry.
Anyway, a friend of ours gave us a present for Brando the other day - a carrying pouch! In Liverpool red of course. It is a godsend because he just loves to stay in our arms. But not only in our arms: We must stand up too! He's a fussy young man already but this pouch thing at least lets us get on with other things at the same time as obliging Brando.
I'm glad you made it out of the hospital... just imagine all the lurgies you could've been exposed to... it's a breeding ground for nasty bugs. Anyway, it's not that big - I used to live just round the corner from St George's in Tooting. Now that is a huge hospital!
Give us a shout next time you're planning on going. In advance! I'll be more than happy to give you some misadvice.
Ciao for now.

thanks for the offer of misadvice - but the specialist in VI said that I have nothing that can't be sorted in Schio or Thiene hospital ..... nice to know but thanks for the all round trip of 50 or so kilometres and 3 hours wasted to find out !

Glad little Brando is being good - but just remember that he will still need to go down sometimes - crying or not. You don't really want to bring up a little lad that is always in your lap - arms or in your bed ...... even when he's six !!!!
Even at this earlt age they know how to manipulate - croccodile tears !!!

By the way - speaking of lurgy .......... why is it that the only big talk of MSRA or whatever the big hospital bug is called in the Uk has never hit the news here. Is it really because UK hospitals stink ???

Ciao - la prossima volta che devo venire a Vicenza - ti avviserò.

Hi Duffer, once again thanks for your help. We'll certainly try it out. This is probably a daft question but I was wondering if it is possible to hook up both a Sky + box and a Freesat box and switch between the two? If so do we need any extra equipment.

Hi Duffer, thanks for update re. Ch 4. ( I think something stronger than prosecco will now be required as the news is not good ! !) Thanks also for keeping a look out for any new test signals, but I won`t hold my breath. Hope you enjoyed a good public holiday with your family !

Just remember that for Sky+ to function you will require 2 cables from the LNB to the decoder. And then another 1 or 2 cables if you have the normal Freesat box or the PVR box. Therefore if you don't already have it, you will need to change the LNB to at least a quad LNB, i.e. with 4 outputs.

At the moment you would be receiving more FTA channels on Sky than you would on Freesat because the Five, Fiver and Five US channels are not yet on Freesat. Apart from BBC & ITV HD there is not much difference (maybe cost). Either way you'll need a fairly large dish for 24/7 reception of Freesat.

I use a Slingbox in our house in Southern Calabria. It connects over broadband to the Sky+ box at home in the UK and gives us a very good picture and sound.

You do have to have a UK end, Freesat, DTTV, Sky, anything with a video output. The remote is operated from an image on the PC screen. I use this all round the world and, in Italy, connect the laptop to a plasma screen. There is a new box coming, Slingcatcher, that connects direct to a TV.

I would have thought that a set-top box in a friends house, even with a new broadband line, might be cheaper than a big dish setup.

Snip, rule 9.

Yep should work - it's on Astra 2A and it's the only variant of C4 (in fact it's C4+1) left on Astra 2A.

I tried out 12480V 27.5 2/3 but still got the No Satellite Signal so I guess my 180 dish is just not big enough, but thanks anyway it was worth a try !

Did you have any luck getting ITV as well? on 12402 V?
There are many changes happening with leases expiring, transponders being passed between broadcasters, etc. that people who wouldn't normally get reception can benefit from UK TV, albeit temporarily.
