Stop at Esselunga - seriously. I've just gone into my kitchen and they sell soft brown sugar in a 500g bag by St Louis(?!??!! - that famous brand!)

Twinkle - if you visit Essalunga - you should find a Carrefour not far away in Nichelino - its a big one too.

I know what you mean about the beans - however if you ever go down to Turin then alot of the chinese/asian shops sell Heinz beans and I only paid 1 euro a tin (compared to about 2.50 in Carrefour) I found allsorts of lovely things in the chinese shop - Birds Custard, Pot Noodles, Salad Cream, Custard creams and ginger bics !

the beans in LIDL are perfect , I never thought heinz were that great anyway , I always bought cross and blackwell , but its up to the individual , I like HP Sauce some prefer daddies, the only thing that I have bought in LIDL that was no good was the American pan cake mix which was vile

Re: Bacon

I can agree with the pancake mix, I have recently been buying their Pancetta, and although obviously nothing like our own thick cut rashers, it still fries okay and its the right size :D

I polished off a bag of their sweet chilli nacho's this week which was lovely and i'm sitting looking at a tin of chilli which I will do this week, Lidl's is definately providing me with my home foreign comforts lol

I have to say, our LIDL's up here in Padova too are frequented by either the north or west African communities, with a large proprtion of eastern european and me :D it must be a class thing, maybe LIDL is seen as below the large proportion of middle class Italian's here in Padova :D

Apparently the deleted people have been following women home in Vicenza , I am told they are a bit creepy, my girlfriend had her bag taken in the same shop before it was LIDL

I saw packs of bacon in our new Eurospin yesterday and it looked rather tempting . Oh was relucatnt to visti but then spent ages looking at the amazing range of cheap spirits and wines . ...

Yeah, Eurospin is my kind of shop too. Love the feta cheese, Calamatta olives, Greek yoghurt( from Greece), smoked pancetta, choccy puddings for the kids, etc. Good selection of breads and sometimes cheap toys. Got a skateboard for DS for under a tenner a few days ago.

Even the stupid cat prefers the cat food from there to real chicken and meat.

You have raised them well.
This was a stray kitten that my friend was looking after and gave it to us because she was allergic to cat's hair. Since it was fed dogs food all its life( 8ths), it prefers crocantini and pate type little tins. I have not given it Eurospin crocantini though, only Purina and Friskies.

I am gobsmacked she will not eat alici, burger meat, chicken, etc, but is happy killing a sparrow or a black crow( gave me a fright of my life to see it chopped up to pieces).
Obviously it needs bigger bell on the collar, or maybe it finds deaf birds....

no they are terribly spoilt ! The big sensible male will eat anything including yoghurt the traumatised female will only eat meals from tins or dried food - and it must be quality stuff ! She is aslo a ex stray , the runt of the litter and had been living out of a rubbish bin before my friends daughter gathered her up and foisted her on us ! Eurospin cat food was rejected by both though . :frown:
