Bacon
Hello
I have just got back from the uk and I had http://www.davide.co.uk/breakfast.jpg And would like to know Can we buy Bacon in Italy or does anyone know how to make it or what to ask the butcher... Thanks |
Re: Bacon
Looks a little more up market than tesco's !
The nearest I've found is thin sliced pancetta at Iper. good luck |
Re: Bacon
I get bacon at Lidl and now I can also get Tulip Bacon at Penny Market (which is sometimes called Billa) :)

Re: Bacon
euro spin has bacon and its called bacon on the pack
. its full of flavore and not to fat and not dear the best we have had in italy . Infact it tastes like english bacon used to |
Re: Bacon
The only one I've been able to find is in a SISA supermarket, it is by Citterio and is called bacon.
Very thinly sliced, quite fatty, but acceptable since it's the only one I can find. Not a lot of big chain supermarkets our way. Oh, and I had that sort of breakfast in Spain recently. ciao for now, 'o nonno |
Re: Bacon
It's twenty to one in the morning and I'm now hungry after seeing this!

Re: Bacon
My mouth is watering. I'm swear there is a smell coming from the pic and I don't even like fry ups.:D I don't know where you can get bacon. I sometimes buy a bacon joint in Bolzano or the Polish section of the supermarket and Ikea at Xmas.

Re: Bacon
I always get the bacon from Lidl. It's called Bacon but sometimes its called Pancetta but it's the exact same thing, probably a supply problem. It's thin and gets crispy, it's not fatty.
Any leftovers from the English breakfast get put into a bacon, brie and chutney baguette the day after. :) |
Re: Bacon
How could you possibly have leftovers?

Re: Bacon
Now the bacon is sorted....what about making hash browns..best way of making them
|
Re: Bacon
It's not the bacon that bothers me... I can live with the pancatta. It's the baked beans :( A local supermarket was selling them for around .30 cents but the stock ran out and not replaced, our 'local' Lidl is about 25 miles away and I refuse to pay 2 euros for Heinz at Achan

Re: Bacon
I followed the post re 'Bacon' from Eurospin and got some - €1.79 for 200 grams and the equivalent of streaky bacon in the UK. It's not the rashers we all perhaps yearn for but ok in a buttie!
