Ok so, I just got off the phone with my migration officer.
This may be old news to people on this site, but she told me that the DIAC is advising that people on the CSL will take 1 year to process for General Skilled Migration visa.
Previously, when we met in June, it was taking about 4 months, so we gambled on an approx 5 month wait.
My wife is a qualified Nurse, with 10 years experience, and we're applying for a General Skilled Migration visa. We have all the requirements, and spent the last month gathering the required documents.
We are travelling beforehand to Philippines(my wifes nationality) with flights booked & jobs packed in, leaving on 6th August
We planned to stay in Philippines while our visa's were being processed, using it as a base for travelling South East asia & island hopping, and leaving there for Australia in November.
But now it looks like we could be stuck in Philippines for "worst case" one year !
Apparently we should now do a State sponsorship, which everyone else is doing, the processing times of which now has extended to 6 months.
Has anybody else come across this ??

We havent actually applied yet, we were just gathering the info.
We will have our application in within the next 2 weeks.
Here is the quote from her email
"The new 2010 Program year commenced on 1 July 2009 and DIAC has now released the updated processing arrangements. DIAC has advised that based on the current application rates, it is unlikely that applications which fall in Groups 1 to 3 (i.e. 1. Employer Sponsored, 2. State/Territory Sponsored and 3. Critical Skills List) will be exhausted in the 2009/10 year (i.e. It will take up until 30 June 2010 to approve all applications in Groups 1 to 3 currently submitted with DIAC). The Minister has confirmed that this arrangement will remain in place to 30 June 2010.
What does this mean? It means that as long a your wifes occupation remains on the CSL then she will receive priority processing up to 30 June 2010, however, it is likely that processing may now take 12 months."

HI,guys.
I have lodged my electronic application on 25 December 2008.My
application TYPE is Class VF,subclass 475 Skilled-Regional Sponsored.
My online application status changed on 9/4 2009(all were changed to met except "Evidence of work experience ") ,a week later I received a letter from my case officer ,she requested "Evidence of employment" and "Character requirement" ,20 days later I mailed these to My case officer.
14/5 2009 I received a call from the local embassy which is called "background check" and it may also called "external check "
9/6 2009 the item"Evidence of work experience" was changed to "met" and a letter named" request information" from my CO was mailed to me and requested the "Character requirement"(Perhaps my agent forgot to sent "Character requirement").
It have been more than 1 months since "Character requirement" had been sent to my CO ....Now I am still waiting with anxiety .....
My question is who on earth put document on "met"?CO or CO's assistant?
What's exactly "met" mean? Is it means these items are checked by CO's assistant or CO and regard these as "eligibility".Or just only means these document are received .whether these items are "ok" is still a question?

Hi,
Just a quick stupid question. Does anyone one know what does "Application being processed further" means? I launched my Visa online on 29 June 2009, and changed status to processing commenced.
on 09 July 2009, status inquiry shows Application being processed further. Does that mean anything? Just curious. Also, my skills assessment evidence status shows as Received, and rest all as required. Any ideas?
My occupation as of now is on CSL & MODL.
Thanks for you time

You have mentioned that you apllied very recently. Even though you are CSL,it's quiet unlikely to have a case officer assigned to your case if you don't have any sort of sponsorship.
Hope this helps.

gzxxd,
you got to be patient. whether CO or CO's assistant, they must be following their standard procedure. They clearly had your "Evidence of work experience" as not met.
Once you sent in the required documents, it has changed to met.
However, the "character requirement" part is wholly at DIAC's discretion. Again, this is given upfront in the terms and conditions of our visa applications. They'll do their check and it does take long to complete. Especially for HR countries, it takes much longer. I am not sure whether you belong to one. but be patient and i do not see anything done wrong in yuor case. you'll get there eventually.
