Per one of the threads I read today... "Effective from 1 January 2009, occupations that are not included in the CSL will not be given priority processing or finalization unless applicants are sponsored or nominated by a state or territory government." so I might still be able to use the STNI, I think.

176 state sponsored (Wall & Floor Tiler) - also on CSL, even after recent changes

Visa Lodged: 28/1/09
Case Officer: 9/2/09
Meds finalised: 20/2/09

All other documents show as "met" so just awaiting a decision now!

IT professional currently live in usa and 176 STATE SPONSORED Applied october 2008 case officer 02 feb2008 Med finalised : 11th march Grant 18th march. Best wishes Good luck. Dhama

HI

I am DEC 2007/MATERIALS ENGINEER/175 ONLINE/HR and have a CO since September 2008. Still no sign of VISA. My Meds and PCC both were frontloaded and have expired. Getting frustrated since its almost six months that I have a CO and whenever I write to my CO he says routine security checks are going on.

I am really sad

Nope I dont think Materials Engineer is on CSL or MODL. Though its engineering.

which country are you from? security checks for some countries can take six months may be even more. Last month a guy from Iran posted here, saying he is from october 2007 and still haven't got a visa grant.
