What is a 176 state sponsorship and how does it work?

Any info about PeopleSoft skills? I'm in PeopleSoft and will be looking for something in this area only.....

As for sponsorship - forget it unless you a real guru in something with bucket loads of real experience, not just certs.

The government really should have cut IT back as well; the hard fact of life is there isn't enough work for those who are here now.
I don't agree. If this is the case then govt should have removed it from the list.

I think you should contact direcly to the Minister and give him this advice to cut IT. May be he appoints you as his his asssistant for this generious advice.

You would have to contact employment agencies to get trends and also see what is currently in demand, I dont know.

That is a broad question - and at 11.40pm in the evening (I am in VIC) it isn't one I am going to answer today!

Maybe telephone our office in Southampton to discuss:

One of the 'older' posters who works in IT said that at the time of the dot com bubble burst, that IT stayed on the MODL when many people were being laid off.

Apologies for the lack of a link, but was within the last month.

The tone of sarcasm in your statement is rather offensive.. and it seems like, more then anything else, your just reassuring yourself..

The fact is : Australia's IT industry and skilled IT workforce requirement is nowhere near as much as in the United States - and the IT folk in the US are increasingly being laid off .. Additionally, the US economy will recover much quicker as the Aussie Dollar is losing value quite rapidly as compared to the American currency.. Logic would lead me to agree with hoofie even though I know jack all about IT ..

Of course, you can believe what you want but I'd say your into denial.. However, you should respect other people's opinion instead of mocking them - They are only symphathetic and trying to help you .

People here on BE don't dare to say that third world countries exp is not counted when they go to FIRST world country..

Pople just forget that We have alreadt traped the jobs in USA ( just read news how people are crying in USA coz of H1B) and also Uk is feeling heat..coz prople from 3rd world countries are coming and eating their jobs..

no need to crib here saying IT should be taken off from the list..people who are making laws know what to do!!

Okay well ... Will you kindly rephrase that in easier english ? I fail to understand what you said and in what context ?

I never said or 'cribbed' as you put it, that IT should be taken off the list and I completley agree that I don't have the authority or knowledge to suggest what should or should not be on the CSL list.

My post was merely a comment on 'Altavista's post' to say that there's more polite ways of expressing your disagreement with other members. I did say I do not know anything about IT apart from the fact that IT professionals are being laid off quite drastically in the US - my cousin being one of them.

Not entirely true, a lot of IT proffessions came off the list in 2001/2, they were back on a year later though. I think its time that Mr Evans made the effort to sort through IT proffessions as although there is still work for people with appropriate IT skills I think that we have enough sys admins and MCSE's here already.

Well, I will say it then, its not just the basic skills its the interaction with the team. I personally do not find *most* third world IT specialists up to standard, they do not have the same attention to detail nor the same customer focus; near enough is good enough, well it isn't. And this isnt idle speculation I work with them.

Its easy to eat other countries jobs if you work for 1/3 the pay, dont kid yourself its because of third world tallent, its because of first world greed. One of the reasons that Business is always for high immigration numbers is in an attempt to drive wages down and keep profits and management pay up.

Has this been removed from CSL list?
Very confused!! Any info would be great.
I think that one of the agents posted a clarification of this and if your proffession was on the CSL at any time during your application than you remain treated as CSL even if it is removed. If you read through one of the early CSL threads you should find it.

Thats contrary to all the litreture I've been through about the new CSL list ... I thought, as many others, that the new CSL is effective immideatley

OK, new list is effective immediatly but I *think* like MODL being on the list at any point is good enough to retain MODL. But I dont have the posted reference and of course the info may have been clarified later.
