And heres the link to the online app form. I did a test run with it and that way I was able to check exactly what information was required before I apply. Im still waiting on the results of my skills assessment but in the mean time I have been collecting all the docs required for the visa.

I hope they haven't stopped posting but I read that they were for a while. The BE member I was refering to was saying that why should he pay for agents when all the information on here was free, & from agents too. I don't recall saying that in my posting. It did get a bit silly & the thread was finally closed down. Thank god! The agents do a fab job (thats what they get paid for) but all I am saying is that if you feel confident doing it alone then go for it.

Katie, no probs!!! We have only just started and although the process is filled with many highs and lows its all worth it!!! Where are you planning on heading? We are aiming for Melbourne this summer.

Wise decision!! Brisbane is a great place. Plus it will be handy knowing someone and having support when you get there. its daunting for us getting off the plane and knowing no one. Mind you I have met some great people on this site but its not the same as heading over to a familiar face.

Hi there, we're just starting the process too going for PR, and using an agent. We're hoping o head for Perth in summer of 2009. I'm a nurse too and have just received my package for the skills assessment, boy does it look like I have a lot of work to do.
The employer references look like they are expecting a signed job description, is that more or less what they need? seems like personal attributes are the least of things they want. I have asked the three consultants i work closely with and the hospital matron for references but the paperwork reads more like they want HR reference can anyone shed any light on this for me!!!!!

We're heading out to perth on Easter sunday for 3 weeks and i've made a few arrangements to visit departments at the royal perth and shenton park , hoping to make more appointments.

I'm just starting to get all the info and forms together so I haven't looked at them in great depth yet, sounds like its goint to be fun getting all the info together!!!!
I hope your application goes well, which agency are you going with, are they reasonably priced?

Im also a nurse and submitted our visa application (175 modl) in october 07, currently still waiting for a case officer

For a 175 visa you must complete your skills assessment first, (mine took 10 weeks to come back) you can download the form from www.anmc.org.au (although the site is down at the minute)
Re the reference for the skills assessment, i was quite lucky as i worked for the same trust for 10 yrs and the same department/boss for 5 yrs so i just got the 1 reference, which covered all the points requested in the form.
As nurses we have it quite easy compared to other jobs, if we'd have had skills assessment for my hubby as a self employed web designer hed have needed references for every job hed done in the last 10 yrs

The form filling is easy, submitting your application for a 175 online is easy, attaching your documents is easy, ITS THE BLOODY WAITING THATS A KILLER :curse::curse::curse:
