Hi All,
I have few queries regarding occupation categories. If anybody could reply i'll b highly obliged.
1. Is occupation 'Computing Professional (nec)' same as Building and Engineering Professionals nec' ?
2. I was assessed under category 2129 - 79 (Building and Engineering Professionals nec) which is under Schedule 1 SOL list. But while applying for immigration my agent mentioned category as 2231-15 (Software Designer) in my online application which is under Schedule - 3 SOL. When I pointed out this to my agent about difference in Asco code , I got the following reply
.
“Please note your nominated occupation (2129-79) need not be same as your actual work experience (IT). This means you can show your IT Work Experience. The rule being if your nominated occupation is 60 points for skill you must have been in Employment in "any occupation on the list of skilled occupations" for at least 12 out of the 24 months before applying for migration under Skilled Australian Sponsored Category.“
So my immigration application will be considered under 2231-15 category or the category I was assessed (2129 – 79).
My time lines are as below:
Lodged On : 12th May 2008 ( Non CSL and Non MODL)
Family sponsored …still waiting for the Visa.
Thanks,
Aliza

If you have CO assigned you have some hope. Otherwise it falls under priority 4.

On the new NSW SMP plan, it states that they will sponsor people with 261313 (Software Engineer) who specialize in Java.
When you apply for the ACS skills assessment, it only lets you to apply for the generic 261313 code. There is no option to add a speciality.
Does anyone know how you are supposed to get ACS to recognize a speciality with the basic ANZSCO codes?

Something similar to my case. The difference is filed as 2129-79 itself and am in Schedule 4 now. I havent heard about a situation where u can assess one code and apply under another code.. You will need to talk to DIAC.

However, in my opinion what he did is not right... You should have skills assessment for the occupation your nominated.... your recent experience may be in different occupation thought..... I am not professional by any mean so see my information in that perspective...

I was told there are three requirements which need to be filled:
- Your assessment needs to be correct code
- you need to have business knowledge experience
- your references, contract and cv need to show the skills of for example c++,c and oracle
so to anwser your question, acs will just give the code, but your references, contracts, and cv need to show you use Java in your dairly duties

Sadaf,
Do you want to apply for 175 or 176? You can apply for 175 if you have got 120 points but you cannot use your ASCO based assessment for 175 according to correlation table.
Thanks.
