Guys,
Even if you dont mention to ACS that, you are redoing the skill assessment, they will know whehter you are a new applicant or old one who has done the assessment using OLD SOL.
You can explain ACS that apart from DBA, you are handing testing/analyst/developer so that ACS may reassess you and assign new ANZSCO code but if you tried to be smart not telling the truth, sure they will disregard your application

Hi djmjx809,
Thanks for the update.
But whats the gurantee that ANZSCO 261399 would be included by states in their SMP? since ANZSCO 261399 includes multiple ASCO codes, it is highly unlikely that it would be included in any SMP.
Therefore to be on safer side, reassessment is the good option

Shafqat,
That would be wrong !. Even if one doesn't get caught, its not right.
My previous RPL was done totally on the basis of truth. I mentioned truthfully whatever I do and I was rewarded with a positive assessment. I was told it was very difficult if not impossible for a self employed person to successfully get assessed by ACS using and RPL application but I was successful.
Inshallah, I will succeed this time too, I did it once, I can do it again.
Cheers,
TAA

i guess i dont. as far as i know (you may correct me if im wrong), 176 are for state sponsorship OR relative sponsored. i wont go and apply for state sponsorship as i plan to be based in NSW together with my family(sister). apparently, NSW SMP's ANZSCO code for my skill(JAVA) is 261313 which is mapped to 2231-15 Software Designer in ASCO code on Schedule 4. I dont want to go for a re-assesment as it only means I'll start all over again. 400AUD doesnt grow in trees

Plus many states are not Recognizing Schedule 4, For example ACT does not recognizing Schedule 4. There are ment to be many states to follow.

Hi
It is not my intention to throw a spanner into the works here; however I thought I’d share something important with you.
I was getting extremely confused with all the threads regarding the new and old codes and listening to all the experts out there saying that if you have a 2231-79 (Specialist code) then you need to be reassessed.
I decided to contact DIAC direct by phone last Wednesday and ask the question. The answer was also confirmed by my MARA agent today.
I have 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) PASA letter dated 25 Apr. I do not require an ACS reassessment as the code maps to ANZSCO 261399 schedule 4 of the new list.
My agent has told me that we must now wait until all the states have published their SMPs before we can go ahead and apply for a 176 under my old ASCO code and PASA letter.
Please do not bombard me with….I've heard this and I've heard that, see this link here.......and that link there. I am simply telling you what I have been told by DIAC and my agent.
I am now going to sit and wait
I hope this helps some people who are in the same boat as me. If others decide to continue with reassessment, then good luck and best wishes

Thanks for your information, I am in the same situation as you, but my strategy is a bit different then yours.
I shall go for re-assessment ( Software Engineer ) in a couple of days rather than sitting on my butt and waiting for other states to release their new occupations list. If between my ACS re-assessment processing time some state fortunately lists my old assessed occupation code (2231-79), then I will apply for it's state sponsorship.
This way I will have more chances to be on safe side. What I mean by saying this is that if my state sponsorship fails after 2 months, then I will have my new re-assessment done in few weeks ahead and I will continue with my newly assessed
code.
This time I will go for every possible opportunity to have more options if one option fails.
Also, I will go for IELTS 7.0 in each band during my idle period of re-assessment, because if I get 7.0 in IELTS in each, then I wont be relying on state sponsorship waiting and it's decision (which could be a failure).
Although it's a new start for me but I have my positivity with me and I will play safe this time.
Cheers.

I am thinking the same. Although I am in the same boat as yourself. 2231-79 LINUX specialist, assessed on March 24th.

It's not a bad plan, but won't a new assessment "override" the old one?
What if you have CO and he says your current assessment is different than the one you used for SS and Visa?
By the time your SS is sorted out (let's assume the result is positive) and you lodge for visa you will get a new assessment from ACS. How do you know the old one will be still valid?

yes Assessment is free.. but i am afraid that profession against 2231-79 (ASCO Code) in ANZSCO is Software Tester & Software Apllications & Progremmer. Do you think i can get +ve assessment against ANZOSCO code ?
