2231-79 (ACS code)- Merged threads
I currently hold a +ve assessment from ACS as 2231-79 .NET Tech Specialist.
I'm just wondering what my fellow .NET guys think about what ANZCO code we should fall into. I'm going to apply for the free re-assessment with ACS and I reckon the closest match is 261312 Developer Programmer. This also happens to be the safest as it is included in Schedule 3, Schedule 4, and also the ENSOL lists. See my workings below.
SCHEDULE 3 (GSM)
261312 Developer Programmer = 2231-17 Applications and Analyst Programmer
SCHEDULE 4 (SMP's)
261399 Software and Applications Programmers nec = 2231-79 Computing Professional nec
261312 Developer Programmer = 2231-17 Applications and Analyst Programmer
ENSOL
261399 Software and Applications Programmers nec = 2231-79 Computing Professional nec
261312 Developer Programmer = 2231-17 Applications and Analyst Programmer
261312 Developer Programmer = 2231-19 Systems Programmer
Altough according to DIAC's correlations 261312 Developer Programmer matches 2231-17 Applications and Analyst Programmer, The ABS classifies Developer Programmer's specialisations as:
I don't know about you .NET guys but on my assessment letter ACS had my experience down as 'Software Developer'.
So I'm going for 261312 Developer Programmer, would like to know the thoughts of other +ve .NET guys.
Thanks a lot.

Tricky... it can't be and will not be same for every .net developer, as it depends on what their experience is largely in. best bet would be to read carefully description of both these occupations and see which one your experience closely matches to.
But i would prefer to go for schedule 3, without state sponsporship..

PHP Code:
Oracle Database Administrator
Oct – 2008 Current
Oracle Database Administrator
Oct – 2007 Sep– 2008
Software Developer
Dec– 2006 Oct – 2007
Programmer / Analyst
Feb– 2002 Nov– 2006
Above is my career path,i have already got 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) which is not in new SOL schedule 3 but in schedule 4.One way fro me to get reassessed , for reassessment i will have to show that i am working as a software developer or developer programmer.Though, currently i am doing as a software developer/implementer as well as as a database administrator but the same responsibilities i was not doing at the time of ACS lodgings as well within my appointment letter it is mentioned that i am database administrator not software developer.
Again i would say that these extra responsibilities being a software developer/implementer i was not performing at the time of ACS lodging and within my affidavit employer reference letter i did not mention these responsibilities cause i was not doing these activities at the time of lodgings but after ACS lodging .
If i will apply for reassessment and show these responsibilities then would not it create some confusion for ACS assessor that in previous reference letter i showed them i am database administrator but now i am showing database administrator as well software developer/implementer which is genuine one that after ACS lodging i was also assigned these activities as a software developer/implementer as well as database administrator.
How will i put up this case fro reassessment, i have already lost OZ $ for that Australian immigration and now come to again at 0 starting point .

You are not alone brother, I have lost 450 + 350 on ACS fees alone and right now I am back to square one !.

Re: Reassesment
Mates,
I admit, reassessment is a tricky matter. If one is to be reassessment under a different code, it sometimes conflict with the information already provided to ACS.
We all tailor our CVs to highlight certain skills. What if those skills suddenly loose all their value and another skill becomes important which was previously not even mentioned. For e.g, ACS may ask, why is a LINUX specialist has suddenly become a Systems Analyst or a Developer Programmer !!.
I am in the same situation and I have to get myself re-assessed as either 261111 or 261112. I have to be very careful to provide new information that does not collide with my already provided credentials. It is a difficult job to say the least.
Once the thinking stage is over and more information becomes available on how to go about that daunting task, I will start my re-assessment essay.
Will keep you posted on my progress. Fellow posters are requested to share information in these difficult times.
Cheers,

2231-79 ( network security )- Merged threads
Hi
It is not my intention to throw a spanner into the works here; however I thought I’d share something important with you.
I was getting extremely confused with all the threads regarding the new and old codes and listening to all the experts out there saying that if you have a 2231-79 (Specialist code) then you need to be reassessed.
I decided to contact DIAC direct by phone last Wednesday and ask the question. The answer was also confirmed by my MARA agent today.
I have 2231-79 (Oracle Specialist) PASA letter dated 25 Apr. I do not require an ACS reassessment as the code maps to ANZSCO 261399 schedule 4 of the new list.
My agent has told me that we must now wait until all the states have published their SMPs before we can go ahead and apply for a 176 under my old ASCO code and PASA letter.
Please do not bombard me with….I've heard this and I've heard that, see this link here.......and that link there. I am simply telling you what I have been told by DIAC and my agent.
I am now going to sit and wait
I hope this helps some people who are in the same boat as me. If others decide to continue with reassessment, then good luck and best wishes

Re: DIAC told me 2231-79 (Oracle Spec) does NOT require reassessment
Thanks for your information, I am in the same situation as you, but my strategy is a bit different then yours.
I shall go for re-assessment ( Software Engineer ) in a couple of days rather than sitting on my butt and waiting for other states to release their new occupations list. If between my ACS re-assessment processing time some state fortunately lists my old assessed occupation code (2231-79), then I will apply for it's state sponsorship.
This way I will have more chances to be on safe side. What I mean by saying this is that if my state sponsorship fails after 2 months, then I will have my new re-assessment done in few weeks ahead and I will continue with my newly assessed
code.
This time I will go for every possible opportunity to have more options if one option fails.
Also, I will go for IELTS 7.0 in each band during my idle period of re-assessment, because if I get 7.0 in IELTS in each, then I wont be relying on state sponsorship waiting and it's decision (which could be a failure).
Although it's a new start for me but I have my positivity with me and I will play safe this time.
Cheers.

I've actually started to think about a seperate assessment as a Business Analysis from shed 3. I've signed up for a ICT Business Analysis course in August as additional evidence. My original plan was a 175 so I'll go down that road whilst like you, I await the SMPs..
thanks

Re: Reassesment
That would be wrong !. Even if one doesn't get caught, its not right.
My previous RPL was done totally on the basis of truth. I mentioned truthfully whatever I do and I was rewarded with a positive assessment. I was told it was very difficult if not impossible for a self employed person to successfully get assessed by ACS using and RPL application but I was successful.
Inshallah, I will succeed this time too, I did it once, I can do it again.
Cheers,
TAA
