Once they hit 22, your ex could not sponsor them for PR anyway(even if they've had medicals and been included on his application), unless he lives in a couple of specific provinces that allow it via their PNP. But it just gives them that option until they are 22.

Thank you, that's cleared up that point for me too.

Oh I wasn't clear on that. My OH did mention the other day that my stepson had mentioned coming here once he's finished teacher training, I'll have to let them know.

Yes, do - he can only sponsor him up to the age of 22 unless he's still classed as dependent over that age (i.e. in full-time education and being supported by his parent or disabled), unfortunately Alberta no longer has a family stream under their PNP so once your stepson turns 22 he would have to find his own route to a visa.

Maybe he could do his teacher training in Canada instead?

He's only got one more year to go where he is at the moment, I have no idea if there is more to follow but he does seem to be very young to be almost qualified I know he's working in my daughters old primary school at the moment though

Both my kids had some sort of medical - not as extensive as the adults - height, weight and medical questionnaire if I remember correctly. I think they were 11 and 7.
