I'm not sure how the BG checks change or the order they check these, but mine still says in progress, and final decision not started yet. I got asked for copies of my passport last week, but my statuses haven't changed over this time.

Also I'm pretty sure when you connect at Pearson you have to go all the way out and then back through security so 3 hours might be cutting it fine.
I have gone through immigration in like 20 minutes both times for my IEC. Both times were with Air Canada. The only large queue was all the snowbirds returning from down south!

Cannot see anything from a search, but I am in the pool (north of 480 points) under EE. I want to go back to England for a week in May and again in November.

Will this cause problems? I don't have an ITA yet but I'm hoping I will by May, not been back to the UK since I started my second IEC last April.

Nope, it won't cause any problems at all. Your only role is to make sure you submit all the correct documents before the deadline (once you get the ITA)

It may even be beneficial to get home as it could allow you to find some of the documents they request.

Awesome, thanks. I brought everything over with me last time in preparation for PR application.

I received my ITA today (through CEC route) and just trying to sort out reference letters. I work in IT so al ot of job titles cross over, and a technical analyst is often the same as a systems analyst or systems engineer.

Do I need to put the same job titles that are listed under the NOC code I used? Or are they more interested in the duties and roles I have had?

Quick update from me since I started the thread in 2015:

My first profile expired and I had to resubmit in Jan 2016 when doing so Ontario messaged me offering me to submit to them for Provincial nomination.

This was received by them yesterday and we now have the 90 day wait to see if we have secured the additional 600 points which should get us an ITA.

We dropped below 400 points in Feb as I turned 40 so my wife had her Main language assessed and secured 14 points and we are also waiting on WES assessing her Quals which will add a few more points.

Our score needs to remain above 400 when the Ontario submission is being reviewed.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

Regards

Scott

Can I just check that you get sent a message in your mycic account when they request the RPRF ($490)?

I would imagine you would get a PDF letter in your mycic, just like you do for other requests.

I can't confirm as we paid everything up-front.

I wish I'd done that now but I didn't want to have to wait months and months for a refund if I get rejected

Congrats on the ITA! I'm pretty sure somewhere on the CIC website it states that you use the job title you were given when you were employed. They are most definitely more interested in the duties/roles of your job matching the NOC code you have selected, as at the very least, you should be able to account for 50% (and I think this is cutting it really fine) of these.

I can't say 100% for sure and hopefully someone will clarify, but I believe that to be correct

Thanks for that Mahdawg. I've tried looking on the CIC site, it only states that the duties and description should match the job duties that were carried out. Doesn't say anything about titles needing to match.

Question Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread

I'm debating whether to decline my ITA.

I'm having a real hard time getting any contact from a job I did in Spain several years ago. I can't even supply a copy of the contract as it is in a locked word document that I no longer have the password for. It was also classed as a "placement" as the job was paid through my university and the company I worked for.

If I don't list that job as work experience toward my application I still have 4 years of foreign work experience in skill class B, as well as my 18 months in Canada.

I'm not sure whether to just upload a letter of explanation for the job or to decline and start again???

I believe I'd still get the 50 points from "Transferability: Work Experience" section as I have 3 or more years foreign work experience in the same NOC code.

Sorry for all the posts. Just don't know what to do. If I apply and they don't like that particular part I still have the required work experience. But I don't want to put it all through and pay and then it gets rejected.

If the job in Spain was done when you were studying at university, it won't count towards your points anyway.

I would only list your skilled experience after you received your degree and only the work that you will get points for.

Also 18 months in Canada will only count as 1 year as its by year so you won't get extra points for the 6 months.

It was after I finished my degree by was a bit like the Erasmus scheme but for Graduates.

So on that initial page where you list all your history, and trips outside the UK etc, just delete that job entry? Even though it was listed on my initial EE profile?

I don't know then if it was a graduate scheme. I just knowing working during your undergrad and or placement year doesn't count.

However if you can't get a letter and it doesn't affect the points then just put that job in personal history and not in work history as all the jobs in work history require the reference letter
