Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
There was another draw today - 457 points
Foreign nationals who, on January 27, 2016 at 13:44:40 UTC, have been assigned a total of 457 points or more under the Comprehensive Ranking System that is set out in the Ministerial Instructions Respecting the Express Entry System, as published in the Canada Gazette,

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
Right now, I'm at 444 points, I guess that's too low? I can't see it going lower than 450. It'll be 469 in October when I'll have more work experience in Canada.

Just curious whether anybody has any opinions on the points system for Express Entry. I know that the draws have been hovering around just above 450 for about 10 months now, but can anybody foresee/guess whether they think that might change in the future? Now we're in the new year, I thought that it was going to go back up for a bit, with the roll-over on PNPs and such.

I think the government were looking at making it slightly easier (decreasing the points) but right now 1500 people get invited every couple of weeks so unless they increase the number of ITAs it may not go down

Who knows what will happen. All I ask is if they decide to change the system, it's after I get my PR lol

I'd be interested to see the application distribution against points. Surely at this point scores of 440+ must have thousands of people (too many for a single draw), because it's never been pulled before and all those just below are accumulating.
Sorry, I know it's kinda useless to speculate about all this stuff, as we will never really know about this stuff unless CIC tells us.

Does anyone know what the PNP points requirement is for BC? I've heard its like 400 points for Ontario.

BC seems to function differently; you should read the requirements, starts on page 29 here:

Express Entry BC is quite different from EE Ontario. Ontario looks at and selects *some* (id est: not all candidates with >400 pts will be selected) EE profiles with over 400 points in the EE pool.

I have another question; will I get a few points if I put down short term contract work that is related to my field of expertise? It's definitely the same NOC code. I had a one month contract back in the UK and a two month contract here in Canada before I started working full time. I can definitely prove them, but I'm wondering if it will actually score me points or not?

Ahh I see, thanks.

0 years (aka under 1 years)
1-2 years
3+ years
so unless these few months will take you over one of the boundaries then it's not going to score extra points. Still worth putting down anyway.

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
Those waiting for first time PR cards, be aware that the processing time has dropped to 73 days! If you've been waiting longer than 2 months, I suggest you call up CIC today as they should now be able to give you an update on your application!

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
I'm more interested to know if the processing times for the applications will increase (e.g. over 6 months) due to the refugee applications?

Re: Express Entry Scores and Progress Thread
I thought that all refugee processing was being done in visa offices outside of Canada?
