Re: Visa help.
From VFS website..............
Business Visa A Business Visa is granted to those who do business in India such as making sales or establishing contacts on behalf of a company outside of India. Business visas may be valid for 6 months to one year or more with single or multiple entries. Irrespective of the duration of validity of visa, on each visit maximum period of stay in India is limited to 6 months (180 days) only. Please note the validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue. Those who are applying to work for an Indian company should apply for an Employment Visa. Please click here for more information. . |

It is very clear on the website but the problem is that there is a difference in what is issued in London HC and Birmingham HC..in the London one it clearly says 180 days but sometimes in the Birmingham issued BV it does not. This happened last year when we applied in London and our friend applied exactly at the same time. He had to register with the FRO in Panjim within 14 days and we did not.
Last Dec. 2011 registered in Pune (where we happened to be) --great performance and fined for being late. Not asked to show anything on leaving for UK. This October didn't register -- again no problems on leaving. |

Our one year business visa was issued in June and it says that the stay must not exceed 180 days and i'm pretty sure it applies to all business visas that are now granted. John |

Obviously, they do not have the 180 day restriction on their visas. It is really not that difficult to produce all the documents if you have a bona fide business. So it can be done! However, most of the people we know with business visas either have the 180 day restriction or exile themselves voluntarily rather than register.
This is pretty clear: d. Registration is also required in the case of visa less than 180 days and if there is special endorsement “for registration requiredâ€. However foreigners entering on Entry(X) and Business visas valid for more than 180 days are required to register with the FRRO, FRO if they continuously intend to stay for more than 6 months i.e. more than 180 days on each visit. (But exempting visa bearing endorsement as “Stay not to exceed 180days hence no registration required.†Page 5 in the document linked above details the required documents for registration, which shouldn't be a problem. I'd have thought it would be the MHA who instruct the Indian Missions abroad, with VFS being at the very bottom of the chain of command. H. |

What's the place in Panjim (FRO/FRRO) like in terms of chaos (appointment only or free for all turn up, wait, push & shove etc)? I guess the "staff" are just as "friendly" as the Goa Police on immigration at Dabolim? I would imagine that they take great delight when you have failed to dot an I, cross a T or have missed a document. H. |

Thanks for the detail in the reply. It's the items quoted above that would phase me & I can fully understand the reasons for the "self imposed exile" that has been referred to.

Re: Visa help.
This isn`t strictly visa related but just to let you all know that there is now absolutely NO problem with re-entry into India on a Tourist visa.
I have been up to Nepal for 5 days and had no problems with immigration at all.:thumbsup: |
Re: Visa help.
Good news. Thanks for that. Hope you enjoyed it!

So you can just go out to Nepal and come back as soon as you get a new visa? Very Happy because that 2 month ban was a nightmare for anyone thinking of retiring over there. |

If you are married : you may find you have rights to a UK visa under the Human Rights Act - RIGHT TO FAMILY (Google the H.R.A and check up on the .gov.org site and you will see this) You would also have rioght of appeal on the same grounds should her visa be refused Dread - x |

The above would be right if Lee was settled in the UK and his wife wanted to apply to be with him. However he is settled in India and they seem to just want to visit UK. Applying for a visitor's visa you have to state that you are not going to UK to get married etc. that is might be wanting to settle. So I presume if they are already married the same might apply and settlement intention would be suspected of Maria, but there must be some way of explaining, there must be others in same situation!!! Lee do you have relatives or friends in UK that could sponsor your wife for a visitor's visa without you being involved ? |

I was wrong, they refused because they said I don't live in goa even though I sent my pport with 5 year x visa, and Maria would not return, even though she has apartment at Green Wood Medows Candolim in her name, two fixed deposits in bank, plus a new Wagon R in her name. I read the refusal over, and over again, it didn't add up,and forget about about the appeal part, I tried, need to be a professer to get through it all. Then the penny droped, money, apply again, pay again. thank you all so much. x |

After getting the visa in May 2012 it told me to register within 15 days. Went to the lady officer who shouted at me for having the 5 x HOW YOU GET THIS. We didn't get on at all, so I thought f... it, just go for a short holiday twice a year till I get P.I.O. Marias never had a holiday ever, so a trip round Everest, and a submarine in Maldives is a treat for both of us. Will reapply her UK visa in May. |

(This requirement only dropped if you are part of a group package tour staying in a hotel, and then if you take time out of the tour you need a sponsor). The simplest way seems to be to use a reputable travel agent for your RETURN tickets, rather than on-line booking. They will help with visa form and will provide a standardised sponsorship form for you to fill in and get signed. |
