Quite agree Iain, the way it has been done will only cause confusion among those newbies who are not aware of what has happened.
ps.
In fact, having read it again it appears that the lazy b@ggers have just changed a few words in the original message and that's where the confusion originates. By the way, there is "sort of" a link to it on the main front page of the VFS site
.

Still, all said and done, it's great news for many on this site.

So, has anyone who is likely to be affected by all this confusion managed to get any clarification yet?

A friend applied for a new 1 year multiple entry Tourist Visa last week at the Victoria office, got it and there was no mention of the 2 months, just the usual "no stay longer than 180 days".

I am not sure what happens if you currently have a Tourist Visa which mentions the 2 month out ruling, and you want to travel out and come back in within the validity of your visa. I am not prepared to give it a try, rather wait till I have to go back mid March & apply for a new 1 year this time.

- I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but a robbery a few months ago highlighted the fact that these visas stickers are delivered from Delhi in the Diplomatic bag, and it seems very very quick for London to have got a new lot.

that is surprising - are you sure your friend didn't miss the fine print?

Have to say I'm with Andy all the way on this.............
The concept of having to travel to your nearest consulate/HCI to get an endorsement that a now defunct (idiotic) rule is actually defunct almost defies belief, even taking into account the morons involved.
As I have said before, the notification on the VFS website is exactly as it was while the restriction was in place, with the first sentence changed.
Are they really trying to convince the rest of the world that rather than alter the website properly to reflect the new regulations, all travellers with the endorsement on their visa must make a trip to their nearest "Centre of Indian Administrative Chaos"?
Idiots. incompetents and @rseholes.

This is the reply that I received from VFS when asking them if there was an restriction on gaps between visas.......
The High Commission has confirmed regarding the lift of the two months gap restriction. The same information is being updated on our website and should be in picture very soon.
Didn`t really answer my question but makes me wonder what plan they are now hatching.
