The best ones, in your beach shack enjoying your lunch or dinner, then they start, In England this would cost much much more, to some out of state waiter.
This makes my blood boil.

Because they work and are prepared to support themselves, (declared) they earn an income, there is no help for them benefits-wise. And neither should there be I say. They supprot themselves entirely, pay taxes, but no CHB or Working tax credit comes their way. They get LESS as immigrants - they pay the same taxes but cannot claim the same tax offsets as we do. The system is skewed against the prosperous.

I'm talking in the UK. To even get a visa to ENTER the UK, you have to prove you can support yourself for the duration of your visit. As my BIL and SIL had to do. The people who get a free house are mostly asylum seekers and even indigenous single mothers, nothing to do with legitimate Economic Migration.

Me too, and there is one word you could not call my BIL and SIL and that is scroungers! They have strived and participated in society, they had to earn £30k each before they were even given the option to live in the UK permanantly. And pay taxes accordingly, and NOT receive the SAME benefits an indigenous family would receive.
The bar is set pretty high with regards to new immigrants into the UK.
In India, however, there is no such bar, no test, no equivelent of the HSMP - Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. There is NO equivalent visa. It is VERY difficult to secure immigration into India - much more difficult, even, than an Indian migrating to the UK. In India If you have a running business with 3x years income tax then you can apply for a 5 yr business visa. You can register with the FRO in Panjim but they just give you leave to remain until either your visa or passport expires, whichever is sooner. There is NO clear path to ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) as there is in the UK. In India foreigners are not working towards anything, they're just living day-to-day. That is the difference.
I hate and love India and I also hate and love England, Of both countries I would be proud to call myself a citizen, but in fairness terms to foreigners, England pipps it any time!!

Total rubbish. Asylum seekers can, yes. But good, honest hardworking Indians? Forget it. My Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law came to England 5 years ago on HSMP (Highly Skilled Migrants Permits) - she is a Microbioligist and he an IT professional. It took them a year just to GET the initial entry visas, and when they got them, they were only valid for one year, and to be able to renew they BOTH had to be employed in jobs paying at least £30k per year. After ONE YEAR in the country. Give any British person the same challenge - find a job paying £30k in ONE YEAR and see what happens.
Added to that, immigrants (who do not have indifinite leave to remain in Britian - granted after 5 years residency) have to pay the SAME taxes as everyone else, but are NOT entitled to the same benefits - e.g. child tax credit, child benefit etc. In a way our Govt is sponging off these new highly skilled immigrants.
And, no, they were not entitled to a house. They bought one though in the last downturn 2008. It has not been easy for them, but they have now settled well in England, and we have taken their place in Goa!

For some, they have to reside in the UK for a certain period before having access to these benefits, for others, their type of visa allows them instant access.
Your brother and sister came to the UK on a skilled migrant visa, therefore would have to find employment here to honour the conditions of their visas - that said, after a certain length of time they will have the option of becoming citizens and will then have the same rights to state help as a person born in the UK.
You have cited the circumstances of 2 individuals who have moved to the UK, both of whom have specific and specialist visas, but ffor many others who move to the UK, their visas have different conditions.

Is knowing the facts being 'biased'? Also spare a thought for those migrants who are not economic migrants but in the UK because they were invited or offered a job. Who stayed because surprise!! they actually liked the UK for itself not what they could get out of it. These people (thousands) have spent their lives contributing and produced children who contribute. These migrants because of their brown skin are sometimes (not by posters on this forum of course) lumped together and termed 'scroungers'.

Good bye Mrs.B.M. Thank-you for your enlightening views on the current situation in the UK regarding immigration. My Chemist is from Poland . My nurse who takes my blood for sampling is Afro-Caribbean.My Doctor is Goan.My best mate of 30 years is of Indian origin. My other mate is Irish, and now lives in Spain.(bless him)Paper shop Gujarati, both of them...! The local shops here consist of a Chinese take away.An Italian Iraqi deli.A Turkish kebab joint. An Indian Launderette. An up market Turkish Restaurant and a Kurdish sandwich take away place, oh and a Greggs and an English Fish and Chip Shop, who have a side line in dressing in rubber at the weekends. After all this who would want to go back to an England of the pre 60s.Please crawl back into your rural hole and go back to sleep, perhaps to dream,of an England that in the true light of day was completely rubbish and dominated by class and breeding.Doff your cap, touch your forelock the squires coming.......get a life.

For what it is worth, in my opinion, the criticism on this Racism Thread is only pointed at the indian benefit scroungers, of which there are so many - not the professional indians who are a credit to our country, pay their way, pay their taxes.
I respectfully conclude that all those married to Indians, or of Indian Origin should not take comments personally. We too have Indians in our extended family who are wonderful people.
