Know of a guy who has an apartment in a resort in Calangute, North Goa. Has his property listed on a few sites as well and who rents out his apartment for a good rate.

Plenty of rooms and apartments to rent you can see them being advertised as you drive around in Candolim.

Hi Shazzieb, Khiladiforever and Jackline

Just popped in to say welcome to BE to all of you.

Shazzieb, the advice about getting here first then finding your long term place is probably the best. As you are not yet sure which part of Goa you want to be, it is probably worth your while having a couple of weeks visiting the different areas, then decide, as the North and South are quite different. Both have thriving expat communities, the North is busier where the South is quieter, but they both have something to offer.

They are only issuing three month visas in Spain now even if you are a British resident. I checked three times with the agency dealing with visas last year and was told the same thing every time..90 days. We went to England and applied there for a 6 month visa...

WE got our selves a new place as being on Baga Creek Road was akin to living on Highbury Corner re air quality and noise pollution from the hotel next door. We managed to get one a single bedroom kitchen living room with balcony.3rd floor with access to swimming pool, A/C fridge cooker and cable television fully equipped for 20,000 a month. Over looking the fields at the back of Annans Bar.If we had took it for 6 months it would have been 18 per month. This seems the going rate now for rentals.Much better than the place we had.More private and no more domestic tourists shouting "party party any one !" at 4 am in the morning.......and waking up to a pile of vomit on the stairs !

Hi Espana

Just to say firstly welcome to BE.

Visa - it seems that there is no consistancy anywhere in Europe. In fact it seems that the type of visa you get is decided at the whim of whomevers desk your application happens to land on that day and on the particular mood of said person that day !!!

Good luck and I hope you get the visa you want.
