We could possibly have applied earlier - one month after the expiry date of last visa which was 15th January, but we wouldn't have been allowed to fly until 12th March (2 months out), so no point wasting 3-4 weeks of the new visa.

Life's a bitch - at least where Indian visas are concerned:(

Excuse me asking but did you apply for six months or year visa? Im back in the uk in june for a visa and not sure if 1 year visas are available or not. My current visa is 1 year tourist expiring in may.

Think you had better get yourself out of Goa before June if your visa expires in May.

No 1 year visas issued at the moment - have a look on Indiamike or listen to rumours.

please tell me where on India MIke there is anything recent about 1 year visas? I also do not listen to or believe rumours! rumour had it 3 weeks back that an announcement about visa changes would appear in a week!!!!!I`m awaiting confirmation of visa changes from my goan travel agent who showed me info from ministry of tourism saying it is going to change but that they will be notified in due course. enjoy your winters elsewhere in the world.

Reply to MSJ5's message No 61 - we just applied for 6 month Tourist visa & intend to stay here throughout its validity.

When it expires, we intend to look around elsewhere for more favourable "wintering" quarters if the 2 month "out" period is still in place.

I think they've made it more than obvious that they don't really want long-term stayers so why waste time here. If it weren't for the fact that like so many others we have money tied up in property here, we'd be off like a shot

I don't know if they're even offering 1 year Tourist visas at the moment, but with the OUT 2 month rule. that seems a bit redundant.

But I'll keep watching this & India Mike sites with crossed fingers..............:fingerscrossed:

they sure did issue my visa before my 2 mths out but as I said it was embassy who refused a re-entry stamp.. So difficult to obtain any info about my partners situation from visa service, very frustrating @ 95ppm calls!

I have a one year business visa expring in Nov. Am about to go to Nepal for the 180 days exit. How confident can I be to be allowed back into India after 2 weeks? I am returning to UK in July then planning to come back to Goa in August before return to UK to renew visa in November - will that be allowed? Also can anyone tell me whether I will have to wait 2 months on a new visa? (business hopefully) Would be grateful for advice...

You know Jessica, so many of us over the last year or so have had our lives f****d up because of the sheer greed and incompetence (actually it is just sheer greed and a total lack of education and common sense) that I and many others have given up. Even when you think you have got your head round the whole thing, you know in the back of your mind that it MAY work but at the end of the day is it worth it? I have said before that we are so lucky that we did not buy in the land of 'for the rest of our lives' but surely everyone must reach the stage when they say "up yours" even if it is their last resort. Our decision is not for everybody but you cannot imagine the relief that me and Debbie feel everyday when we wake up and realise that we don't have to put up with even a hint of that shit anymore. I really feel for the people who are trapped in this nightmare but IS IT WORTH IT. The funny thing is if I was offered a 5 year visa tomorrow I would probably say "yes" but it would be a retrostep. I have moved on. REALLY Tuvalux
