So what is in store for us all? This season has been overshadowed by a constant background stress of new visa regulations...I want to discuss fishing, music, festivals, food; not all this nonsense. We are back to Spain in a week where at least we can live as European citizens, freely and easily.

Nor in ours in the winding back streets in UK, - but cars seem to pass each other with dignity, I know only two can pass at a time,(if there is no residents parking) but here at least 3 would try + a couple of bikes.

That "blog" is interesting, but until I see the "special notice" deleted from the VFS website, I'm not going to get my hopes up too high:frown:

For many of us (especially those of us of a certain age group), the further burden is the gap required between visas - if that can be done away with, then the situation will start to look rosier - ever hopeful!!

Hate to be cynical, but even if and when they do drop this silly rule, the usual lamentable confusion will reign amongst officials, who will not have a clue what is and isn't in place !!
Let's face it the only thing they do with any consistency is confiscate cigarette lighters !!!

Dread - the sad fact is...

Re: Help if possible, new visa rules.

My partner returned to UK from India on a transit visa issued in Thailand. (Arrived from there on March 11th, departed India 26th March) His last 6 mth tourist visa expired 20th Feb. Any ideas of when he can apply for a new visa?? 20th of this month or will he have to wait till 26th May??
I came home to "sort" my new visa out, got refused once as not been out 2 mths, got permission for a new one with covering letter and my rent aggreement in Goa but the Consulate wouldn't give me re-entry stamp. They sure don't want us living there on tourist visa...
My daughter's out there "visiting" me now, returning the day before I can fly back.. :frown:

Sorry justjude, not quite with you? Do you mean they issued you with a visa to return to Goa before you'd done your '2 months' in UK ?

We arrived in UK on 8 March to 'sort' our new visa - was refused return until after 8 May. Lots of rumours about the rule being withdrawn (even going as far as it would be notified on 1 April) but as yet nothing. Worrried about our home and our dogs in Goa. We continue to wait....:(

Re: Help if possible, new visa rules.

If my recent experience is anything to go by, we left India on 11th January, and didn't apply for a new visa till 12th March. We could possibly have applied earlier - one month after the expiry date of last visa which was 15th January, but we wouldn't have been allowed to fly until 12th March (2 months out), so no point wasting 3-4 weeks of the new visa.

Life's a bitch - at least where Indian visas are concerned:(
