There is hassle, you live with it, work around it or just ignore it.

At the end of the day Mrs Brinks Matt - could you really afford to have the standard of living that we now enjoy in Goa? Excellent food, cheap booze and cigs - go back to the Uk and you cannot afford any of it! Hot water bottle sounds like a luxury at the moment! :D

I don't drink or smoke so that doesn't affect me. Also i would have a far better standard of living in the UK than Goa,although i would rather miss the UK winters but there are plenty of places you will get a better standard of living than "The Toilet"!

Do regret becoming a smoker in Goa, and have missed those days with a couple of Kingfisher, bottle of Honeybee. But much prefer the clean tables and enviroment, in most uk pubs, clean toilets, no dogs patrolling, able to go for a run early without a stick. No major threats to my well being. When you come away you realise what you were putting up with, I have not seen one man using Indian toilet since my return:thumbup:

It can't be healthy for you living around all that filth and sqaulor, breathing in all that dust. Have a look at the back pages of The Herald they are not around to long.
Put it this way you would never be out of work if you could play the trumpet!!!

Mrs BM

Hate to ask but didn't I recently read a post where you just renewed your visa? If you hate the place to the degree it seems you do, why do this?

Dread - baffled

Don't have to! Very easy to bring up all posts by an individual.

http://paperspink.blogspot.com/2010/...trictions.html

I received this as a Google Alert to "Changes to Indian Visa Regulations"

has anyone else seen anything similar?

my latest 6 month multiple entry tourist visa (issued 15th March 2010) has the 2 month between visits clause stamped on it.

Cheers
Iain

Now even I am confused - if we get a 6 month visa - we can stay six months if we do not leave India?????? IS THAT RIGHT:fingerscrossed:

Re: Help if possible, new visa rules.

Yes it is Noni. As long as your visa is valid you can stay up to 180 days. It's when you leave and want to return within two months, or renew your visa within two months that's the problem.

Re: Help if possible, new visa rules.

Thanks thought it was that, but so many rumours - brain getting addled.

Will not sell if can stay for 6 months. Heart says stay, head sell.

Worst is over for us here so hopefully it will be stay, as we love it and the apartment.

Just received this from our travel agent:- URGENT IMPORTANT NEWS

AMENDMENT IN VISA REGULATIONS FOR TOURIST VISA

We have been informed by our association that Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India is deciding to withdraw mandatory two months gap between visits to India which was imposed on foreign tourists with effect from December, 2009. An important article in Hindustan Times in March, 2010 is given below for your kind reference:

Quote

"GOVT TO EASE TOURIST VISA RESTRICTIONS

The mandatory two-month gap between visits to India, imposed on foreign tourists last December, will shortly be done away with. New tourist visa guidelines to be announced soon, will have no such restriction, but instead will allow only three visits to chose with multi entry visas, no questions asked. Those wanting to make a fourth trip will have to give reasons why.

The external affairs ministry has asked the change, but it awaits the home ministry's nod.

The government had clamped down on tourist visas following the disclosures made by arrested Lashkar-eTayebba operative David Headley about his frequent visits to India using a tourist visa, during which he surveyed a number of the locations in Mumbai which were targeted during the 26/11 attack.

"The change is aimed at helping genuine tourists. Measures are in place to ensure we don't compromise on security" said a senior official".

Don't shoot the messenger if this is not true, just passing on infor.
