I have never experienced road chaos and grid lock like last night around Arpora towards Calingut. And in the middle of what, i think, was the worst traffic jam i have ever experienced outside of Christmas, a bloody elephant was plodding along towards the night markets totally oblivious of the madness around it.I was fully expecting some scooter rider to crash into it and then mayhem...!

I think it was caused by the fact that there were 4 policemen trying to deal with the situation that made it 10 times worse as there was no co-ordination between them.If they`d had the sense to move parked bikes and cars the problem would have been solved!

I almost started chewing up the throttle of my Bullet.
Busloads of cops swinging their dandas in order to make sure everything shuts down at 11pm added to the fun greatly.

Arpora Friday night traffic was dreadful. Holiday weekend with all and sundry arriving in their big jeeps to stay. 11pm closing must have spoilt their weekend! People arrived in the restaurant we were in last night just as we were leaving at 10.55pm demanding drinks and arguing with the waiters. It is not the waiters fault so unfair to take it out on them.

Thank you Newtons!
I had an hour or so to waste in Candolim a few days back!
Delfino`s 1st stop as not been before....suitably impressed.
Back to Newtons(just to waste time)!
found a whole frozen Quail for 60rs....just had it for dinner!
Absolutely delicious, had it marinading in Honey bee all day ,roasted it with assorted veg and added some port wine to the pan made gravy ,a few Brussels Sprouts just finished it off!!!!!Delicious.
The packs of 4 wholemeal rolls from Delfinos for 35rs are beautiful and topped off with some Buffalo pepperoni from newtons ,with cheese and grilled are totally awesome!

the link below is for a petition to get a new debate in the House of Commons about the proposed major changes to the NHS one of which is to take away the Ministers responsibility to provide a NHS so those of you who no longer have a home in the UK may not be interested and I know this being a Goa forum this probably is not appropriate but some of you may be interested. Please pass on the link if you have friends that may be interested. the more signatories the better.

Last night coming through Calingut at 9.30 pm after the Arsenal finished, we decided to drive to Arpora via the main street and turn left at the Temple towards Arpora and home.First thing we encountered was the obstacle course. This was tourists walking down the middle of the road, hand in hand, as if they were on the beach. Some in groups of 4 or 5, holding cans of red of Kingfisher ! We then managed to get to the Temple Corner and stood in the middle of the road, near the round about, was a young Indian male tourist stripped down to his underpants and vest, urinating towards the oncoming traffic...never seen anything like it since Manchester Pete thought the church in the middle of the road was his hotel and pushed the door open and fell asleep in the aisle !Amazing..........

The tourist police should be arresting or fining these people not chasing the sellers on the beach. They could make a lot more money that way and get rid of a menace. My granddaughters think Indians are disgusting after seeing them pee in the street.
