Hi Noni and all,

I have sort of answered this one before.

An indian co is deemed resident and can therefore own and register freeholds if they are necessary for the running of that business. The co could then offer short term leases to FNs . The FNs could also be shareholders. Much better than the acron arrangement in that the FNs own the co that owns the freeholds. The perfect technical arrangement it seems, apart from the company officers having to do all the admin and obtain permissions etc.

However, it is rather like giving the technically correct answer to the wrong question in an exam ie it still carries no marks. The reason being , this is not a technical problem that requires technical solutions, it is a relationship problem.

The FN is one party in the relationship, the central govt of india another, the govt of goa another, the people of goa another and so on.The only party that wants to make this work is the FN and that is mainly out of self interest.

FNs are not wanted in india in the numbers they want to be and never have been. FEEMA is not indicative of an open door policy, rather the opposite.

The answer is for existing FNs to leave india with as much dignity and as little financial loss as you can muster. If you are not already there ,dont even think about it.

regards
douglas

Hi Remy,

I feel really guilty now if you had a sleepless night worrying about your new BE-imposed role as the new (highly ethical) Godfather of FNs in Goa!:o
Like Indiapurple et al i was also only joking and i'm also moved that you even considered looking into it for us:)

I would never dump my own mess on someone else like that and i whole heartedly agree with Douglas's analysis that although in theory it could work, its still not the answer at the end of the day since long stayer FNs clearly aren't welcome in Goa,so i don't think its wise for FNs to linger at the exit too long- however seductive the Goan 'dream' might be!
Kind regards TDK

Hi Remy,

Sorry i only just read your post!
I thought perhaps you could set up a P/T costume hire shop for the local and Russian mafia so that your cowboy suit doesn't go to waste, & you could use the Marlon Brando voice for commercial voice-overs:lol:

Kind regards TDK:)
