Kinda disagree here Douglas.

Many things have been achieved in the past by pressure being applied from public outcry. Not least in Goa itself. So even though technically speaking many FNs walked into things naively.....hopefully and eventually some middle ground compromise may be possible.
I agree with most of your legal interprutations but also believe that those 'caught' up in the ongoing debacle have to remain optomistic and not ly down and die.

Remy

PS.
Also agree that any FNs thinking of purchasing in Goa at this time should 'run a mile'
This is just for those already 'caught'

Hi Remy,

Although of indian origin, you have an occidental sense of justice and fair play which is nice. I can only speak from my own experience and observations
of indian officials at work, who dont possess any of these qualities.

The public in goa will in general welcome the ousting of FNs and will see no need for compromise or clemency.

Any FN facing adjudication in india is in a lottery with unquantifiable odds. Best to budget for 100% loss and then you wont be disappointed.

Most FNs cannot imagine the insensitivity, stupidity and inhumanity with which indian officials can carry out their duties.

Hi indiapurple,

I mean the FNs subject to the d of e enquiry should be preparing themselves psychologically for some degree of loss and a new paradymn thereafter.

FNs not yet subject to enquiry should be preparing to get themselves and their money (where possible) out of india. Any time spent on thoughts of public support to give FNs a last minute repreive is a waste of time and energy.

Hi Douglas,

I cant argue with anything you have said in this post.
Just thinking positive and being optimistic that some common ground will eventually be found.
Maybe it will.....Maybe it wont.........but one can live in hope.
I dont believe fighting for justice is ever a waste of time.

Also from a PIO point of view...i dont think Goa would be the same without many FNs and expats. I have so many friends out in Goa both Indian and FN and the cosmopolitan mix of conversation and fellowship is great.
This is why an exclusion of FNs for whatever reason in my opinion is sad and simply wrong. Im all for a tightening up against the criminals........but not allowing FNs to retire there is a scandal.

Heres hoping common sense will prevail.......

Regards,
Remy

Hi Remy,

Thats a nice thought, i would love to see the global village too, but india is particularly insular and inward looking i think.

The few criminals will probably remain unscathed and they will throw out the good guys , thats india , the ultimate paradox.

Hi Cariad,

If you browse my profile you will see that i am Half Irish/Half Indian and i do qualify for Pio status.......however most of my friends who bought in Goa the same time as me are deemed Foreign National and therfore like many of you are 'Caught'.

I dont believe there has been a sense of fair play or common sense regarding this apparent exclusion of many FNs.........so will stand with my friends on this one. Common Ground most be sought to bring this debacle to a close, afterall its not doing Goas' reputation any good either.

Kind Regards,
Remy

Hi Douglas,

Yes, unfortunately this does appear to be the case but the mindset has to change..........hopefully.

I grew up through the 'troubles' in Northern Ireland and most of my life people said there would never be peace........but the mindset is changing and things are differant now......albeit it has taken 38 years.

Remy

Hi Remy,

Mindsets do change thats true, but it usually happens when we have become sick of killing each other. We are only at the "why dont you go and play at your own end " stage in goa.

Hi Remy
If you were a real friend ;) you would offer to register all our properties in your name  You would be one of the biggest property owners in Goa
