So you did - now I am really scared !!!!!

I have no problem with Muslims, most of them are decent people, some are my friends - but I hate the Muslim terrorists (or any terrorists for that matter), which is probably inevitable having witnessed first hand some of the carnage from their atrocities. Only the truly evil could even think up some of what they do.
Most decent muslims also hate terrorists who claim they act in the name of their faith.

During the whole of the troubles with the IRA in London, and i had some pretty close calls over the years.I once walked on to Oxford street accidentally through the police cordon when the bins blew up !They never threatened the Tube system. Once a bus blew up but that was accidental and the bomber went with it.Only Muslim terrorists thought of exploding bombs on tube trains. The ultimate horror for most Londoners and that includes every religious denomination.Trapped in a tunnel under ground and for what ? A promise of paradise, 27 virgins and a packet of pea nuts ! If you believe that load of rubbish you deserve to be up stairs strumming a harp instead of enjoying the delights of London in Spring time.I can only conclude that there is some thing missing in the heart of Islam if it generates mindless idiots who let off bombs in tunnels to kill people in the name of religion.

Catholics and Protestants killing each other in Ireland, IRA bombing in London and Birmingham. Not what Jesus taught.
Terrorists are terrorists whatever their origins and innocent people get killed.

Surely not what Jesus taught, though of course the Bible has some interesting thoughts on 'eye for an eye' techniques. Unlike the Koran which manages to incite fatwah on infidels, ie. if your not muslim you have no respect

No the Irish on both sides had a political agenda to air, this was proved by the peace process when both sides got together and hammered out a deal.It had nothing at all to do with religion. It was about political power,In Northern Ireland the Catholics were in a minority. In a united Ireland the Protestants would have been in a minority. The IRA never hid behind a religious cloak. It was all to do with unification-a united Ireland. It was the protestants in the north who waved the orange flag.Sorry but it had nothing to with Christianity at all. Most terrorist organizations have a political agenda.A goal which usually involves self determination or freedom from oppression.Colonial or separation from an existing state.Jihadism wants to create a world wide Caliphate based on Mecca which is completely unattainable unless you murder over half of the worlds population...27 virgins and a packet of crisps in heaven, come on please. This is 2012AD not 700AD.Islam is under threat from the forces of modernism and scholarship that's examining the Koran as a historical document, not the word of God.They feel threatened and this is the reaction of a few mindless nutters stirred up by ignorant Mullahs who fear for their livelihoods.

I was in Birmingham, London, and Manchester/Warrington when the IRA struck, it seems to me that our reactions to these outrages were different, we now seem to be responding to America's angst not our own - after all the IRA killings we searched bags in Pubs but we did not initiate the security-industry agenda that has happened after "9/11", we did not add an hour to airport check-ins and make people take their shoes off; we did not confiscate water bottles then allow people to purchase new ones a few feet away at three times the cost;; we were not brainwashed!

A genuine question - how many people in the UK have been killed or maimed by the IRA, and how many by Islamic terrorists? [and to help us keep a sense of proportion, over those years how many were killed e.g. by lightening strike, and e.g. in road accidents].

Stamp prices: First-class stamps to cost 60p

A first-class stamp currently costs 46p and a second-class stamp costs 36p.

A first-class stamp will rise in price from 46p to 60p from 30 April after the regulator lifted some price controls on Royal Mail.

Good points made PJ.
The difference between the Irish terrorist and the Muslim terrorist is that the Muslim terrorist seeks martyrdom and is unafraid of (and expects) death for his or her deed. A much more dangerous threat due to the mindset.
The Muslim terrorist hides behind the religion of Islam as its 'face' - but their aims and objectives are just as political and even more extreme - their primary aim is to create a world Muslim state under their twisted version of Islam - it is about power for a small group of Al Quaeda influential.
Their view is that every human is born Muslim and the 'infidels' have chosen to stray and should thereby be forced to return to the 'fold' and live under their fanatical regime.
Many of those put through training camps are disillusioned young people or those who find themselves socially inept in some way. Some are on the fanatical edge themselves having been enlisted and brainwashed by the likes of Abu HAMZA and Abu Qatada and their ilk. The hate preaching clerics and the Imams who tend towards the more fanatical trends of Islam seek out these people and give them a sense of belonging - then brainwash them with the promise of great things to come. Some unscrupulous Islamic schools start sublimal brainwashing on young children - even in the UK - which is really sick.

Andy

The confiscation of water bottles and the x raying of shoes has nothing to do with 9/11 or with the USA - both came into being because of thgings which occurred in the UK.
The x raying of shoes was because of British subject Steven REID - who was found boarding a flight from Paris to the UK (or other way round) with bombs in his shoes.
The confiscation of liquids was due to a disrupted plot involving over 20 people from London and Berkshire who had created liquid forms of explosives and then doctored common drinks bottles to carry the explosives in. The intention was to detonate the explosives on a number of planes. The female of this group was said to have had liquid explosives in her babies bottle - which is why a parent has to drink from a baby bottle in front of officials to avoid confiscation.
Had those planned atrocities not been disrupted by the Met police - many many more people may have lost their lives. Plenty more planned atrocities have also been disrupted over recent years - for which I for one am most thankful.
I would rather spend an extra hour at an airport - and I am glad to see those extra security measures being exercised.

I must admit I have less confidence in the Indian airport staff - they are so obsessed with cigarette lighters that I don't think they would even notice much else !

I don't think you can really compare lightening strikes and road accidents to acts of or plans to commit premeditated mass murder.
