My ex-land lady lost her dog last year to Rattol.
Maybe the stray population is down due to the local charities spraying them too, a Colva charity has sprayed 2000 or more!

Unfortunately I did not find this in South Goa in November - there were as many as ever. There were also hundreds of tiny scrawny cats and kittens, weak with hunger, looking desperately for food - particularly in Margao. It's really heartbreaking and stays with you.

There is a large pack of dogs who roam around the fields near us in North Goa it would be quite frightening to come across them suddenly. Splaying them may stop them producing more pups but it does not stop them carrying disease including rabies, nor does it stop them howling for half the night. They should be gathered up and put to sleep rather than being shot at or left to starve.

Very confused here?

If they are spraying (cbc) bitches, what are they spraying them with? Maybe aftershave so the male dogs think they are blokes?

Alternatively, splaying (k800etc) could have undesired results. If they splay their back legs it would probabably encourage mating? Splaying their front legs, however will result in instant death, as any SAS/Marine Commando will tell you.

Maybe it would be best to stick with spaying (Oxford Dictionary), as suggested by Monika/Maneka Ghandi, innit?

Spaying/Splaying/Spraying....It's an easy mistake to make I guess - I heard my 24 year old daughter singing 'crowd control to major tom' the other day - oh how I laughed!

This is far more important than arguing over spelling.
